I don't know about you lot, but I've been pretty damn excited about this pic (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0796366/) since that first teaser that came out earlier this year in front of Cloverfield. It's still almost half a year away, but some new shots from the film have recently been put out there and I gotta say I find them fascinating. Check out the pics here on AICN (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/38759).

All I had to hear was Simon Pegg, and I was on board.

I would love to do amazing things to Zoe Saldana.

Unfortunately, the actual movie looks like crap (visually). Since when did one single bridge of the Enterprise look like it does in that shot? It reminds me of a bridge out of Lost in Space or something like that, not Star Trek.

I am a huge Star Trek fan, and this just isn't sitting well with me so far. It doesn't feel like Star Trek, and I'm sure that's on purpose, but I don't like it.

I'm a huge fan of Trek (Wrath of Khan trounces any of the Star Wars films) but this film, though interesting me, doesn't really feel right. Why do we need to go back and see how Kirk became captain of the Enterprise? It seems pointless to me.

The fact that the director, writers and producers don't know what it is (re-imagining, reinvention, revisioning etc)scares the crap out of me. Small things niggle me, why is Chekov there? He never came into Trek until season two.

I also agree with Siraris to an extent on the bridge, I don't think it looks too bad, but it sure as hell isn't the Enterprise. It's an Apple store Jim, but not as we know it.

I'll go see the film and keep an open mind, who knows it, it may blow me away, but it's got a lot to stand upto.

Same. Simon Pegg was what piqued my interest, and John Cho was an extra perk.

I agree that the bridge looks hokey, BUT. They would NEVER be able to truly replicate the look of the bridge in the original series without getting laughed out of the room. IT's just too dated. People WANT Apple store out of their sci-fi, that's what we've come to expect the future to look like: touch screens and shiny vacu-formed transparent plastics everywhere. And actually, when I compare that bridge to the look they had in Enterprise (which I didn't watch a lot of, but still caught on occassion) this actually seems to me to be something of a natural progression. And really, I think one small, half-glimpsed shot of part of the bridge is hardly conclusive. Probably best not to throw in the towel until we at least see it in motion.

Spock needs to rein in the Sylar when doing his death grip. He isn't supposed to ever look that pissed. A lot of the casting looks good, but Kirk looks straight out of a teen movie. Hopefully he'll have some acting chops to backup the looks. Then again, he only has to out act Shatner.

I didn't know Anton Yelchin is playing Chekov. I really liked him in Charlie Bartlett. IMDB says he's also playing Kyle Reese in the new terminator movie. That'll be different.

Think about this though, the "NX-1" they got a way with much of making things the way they were in the original series. They made it look like submarine instead of the 1701-D. Why the hell can't the movie do this?

A stoner-road comedy with zombies. In Space!

That would be awesome.
