With all the positive PC game experiences, there are also sadly, some very bad ones as well. In fact those experiences are so horrible that it leaves an indelible mark on one’s game psyche. Some have had fortunately only one or two, but most out there have had three or more. In this, the 19th edition of the Immortal Machines podcast, Clayton [Voodoo], Eric [Ravenlock], Robert [Trebor], Jacob [MagGnome], and Mike[Bandango] lament over what three PC games gave us so much grief, pain, and a quick return to the store for something else to play.

Before this trip down this "via del la Rosa", we talk about the games we have been playing since the last podcast which has a nicer ending. The Retro Gaming segment covers the classic action third person RPG from 1996, which is none other that Blizzard North’s Diablo. The Indie Game segment discusses Lucidity and The Three Musketeers, no not the candy bar. We finally wrap up with a coverage of PC Gaming News where items such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s lack of dedicated servers, Left 4 Dead 2 Achievement list is released to the public, the "to be released" PC game Torchlight by Runic, and more.

Immortal Machines presents... Box of Chocolates (http://www.immortalmachines.com/public/podcast/Box_of_Chocolates.mp3).

Hosted & Summarized by Robert [Trebor]
Participants are Eric [Ravenlock], Jacob [MagGnome] and Mike [Bandango]
Produced by Clayton [Voodoo]

I had a lot of fun doing this show. Hopefully we get some impressions soon from the community. :)

Mike did a great job - I hope he joins us again in the future!

Kudos on the revamped intro tune. Much snappier than the previous.

To comment on the Borderlands analyst prediction, I think the analyst is missing a point that I believe actual gamers better understand. Borderlands is in a separate genre, to the point that Dragon Age or CoD aren't really direct competitors, in my opinion. People who really crave the experience from either Dragon Age or CoD weren't necessarily into Borderlands anyway, and vice versa.

If Diablo 3 - which I consider a closer competitor than either of the other titles - were coming out this holiday, then yes, the Borderlands crew probably shouldn't hold their breaths. But Borderlands, Dragon Age, and CoD are apples and oranges (and bananas).

Excellent points about Borderlands. Also, thanks for the compliment about the intro tune. I was able to obtain a stereo version of the Shodan sequence and then mixed Marilyn Manson's WOW and King Kill 33 together to get the music...

What did you think of the retro segment music and the new segment intro 'music'?

Hey, here I am with those links I promised, only days late as usual! ;)

Go check out Lucidity here (http://store.steampowered.com/app/32410/), and then The Three Musketeers RPG here (http://www.dingogames.com/three-musketeers-game/). Really, do the 2nd one. Download the demo. It's good.

Here's the achievement list for Left 4 Dead 2 (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/left-4-dead-2/achievements/).

And here's the Dark Mod (http://www.thedarkmod.com/) (Thiefy!) for Doom 3.

Oh, and we didn't get to talk about it, but check this shit out (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=12815). Coming to XBLA and Steam. Looks hot.

I just finished listening to the episode today, and I thought it was one of our best yet!

Took me a bit to go back and listen again. Most seemed to fit a theme, except the retro music. That was kind of jarring. At first I figured it was just a theme pulled from the game in the segment, but that wasn't any song I remembered hearing in Diablo. Where'd that come from? :p
