I'm extremely sick. In fact, you may become infected just by reading this thread. I have a nasty sinus infection, and the doctor has prescribed the largest pills I have ever taken. 875mg Augmentin. Take a look at the crappy cellphone pic:

One of the parts of my job is packaging pills in blister packs for nursing homes. Sometimes you have to break out the extra large blisters, just to fit huge ass pills in them. It's totally normal for a patient to be taking 12-15 different prescriptions, sometimes a dozen pills in the morning and 10 at night. It's really disturbing.

At least the ones you have there are nicely contoured, it sucks when you just have sharp edged disc shaped thing to swallow. And yes, at least it isn't a suppository.

Since it has that indented line across it you can break/cut the pill in half. That should make it easier to swallow.

Dear lord, I cry at the sight of that thing... I physically am unable to swallow pills larger than those blue liquidy /gell headache medicines, especially when I'm stick, and thats probably a little less than half the size of that monster.

I was trying to take one of said blue pills a few months back while I was sick and had a fever and nearly choked.. ended up not being able to take it cause it would get stuck in my throat :(

Good question. It seems like something you might get used to, but I still haven't. They taste gross as fuck too, if you have a hard time getting it down.

Meh, get used to it. I toss down 6 pills every morning. My multi-vitamin is about that big and I usually suck them down with just a sip of water. I've had several health issues over the years and just got used to choking down the pills.

Maybe Mrs. Setebos can offer some suggestions for suppressing the gag reflex. ;)

Ew. I hate swallowing pills - I couldn't do it until I was about fourteen, actually, it's still iffy. I have to go through a little routine of biting it between my front teeth and drinking a torrent of water to avoid triggering my gag reflex. *shudder* I can't imagine trying to swallow a pill that large...

Though it is actually helpful in this case, that is definitely routine on prescriptions. I once saw a prescription label on a box of Ensure telling the person to drink one can orally once per day.

I had to take those kinds of pills when I had a pretty bad ear infection. I got used to swallowing pills, without drinking anything either.
