I've had problems with chatting on Live and streaming Netflix, so i called my ISP and they advised they are seeing a 50% packet loss. The tech came over this morning and ran a test, seeing that I'm still pulling 18 a sec on my wireless network. But running tests he see that that's where the packet loss is coming from. He showed me hardwired in, that everything is fine.
So while regular internet browsing is fine, for everything else I'll need a new router. I use a D-Link Gaming Router and it is about 3-4 years old. Is it possible for it to die to the point of disallowing real-time services but keeping regular browsing fast? Just seems kind of odd, but that's the logic I put behind it. I wouldn't mind just getting an N router anyway, but I was curious on your thoughts of a dying router that technically still performs well for regular browsing.
