We all knew that Bioware's next franchise - Dragon Age Origins - would be making it's way to the PC. We also suspected that it would make it's way to some console in some way, shape for form, but the exact details of that trek were unknown. Until now.

In their cover feature on the game for the November issue, Game Informer confirmed that DA:O will be hitting both the PS3 and Xbox 360 in the fourth quarter of 2009, with the PC version expected in the first quarter of 09.

However Bioware promises that all versions of the game will reflect the "core PC experience" and will be neither watered down nor dumbed down for the console releases.

Not surprised. This announcement should also pretty much serve as confirmation that Mass Effect 2 is going to be multi-platform also.

Damn, I was hoping for sooner....like Summer 09. Guess we'll have to wait till 2010 for Mass Effect 2 now.

I kind of figured it was coming to the 360/PS3 when I saw a "Downloadable Content" menu option at PAX. So... 6 month delay for console versions, sounds in line with Mass Effect to PC.

How is that? Even before the buyout, it was widely known that Dragon Age would be console-bound at some point.

I'm going to go with, wtf? They went through the process of PCing up Mass Effect for PC. I think they should also do the console stream lining. Mainly this about interface, and they are going to do it. But why act like you are about to make people on console play with keyboard and mouse.

Core PC Experience doesn't mean interface to me....just means the gameplay will be the same and they'll make it work on consoles without dropping any features.

I think the PC will still be the preferred platform for this game since I get the feeling there will be a big mod community surrounding it. Guess we'll see closer to release.

Hopefully this doesn't negatively affect the PC version. They say it won't, but we've all heard that song and dance before.

Same for Oblivion with mods, but that changes nothing. People will buy it for where the fell comfortable playing. I hate the back in fourth about playing on pc or console, kb/m vs controller. Everyone yammers on about your platform suck but not everyone can afford both options and there is also a comfortability factor.

Actually there will be no mod tools right out of the box for Fallout 3. Supposedly they want to get them out eventually, but it's (unfortunately) not a priority at the moment.

This is excellent. Since the PC version will come out way before the 360/PS3 versions, there's a lot more chance that'll be pretty awesome and unaffected by any console porting problems.

Hunh? How does this announcement indicate that?

What problems did Mass Effect pc have?

This isn't the Fallout 3 thread. :D

Well they messed up the most integral part of ME... the suspense filled elevator rides... that and the way the removed the texture pop, i mean that was like opening your eyes and having things come in to focus, a really apt visual metaphor. They ripped out the artist heart of the thing in favour of "better performance" it makes me sick! don't get me started on higher screen rez, better looking textures and better controls and interfaces... god... it made me so damn mad!

Huh? I couldn't tell if you were for things or against them.

You fail at not only using, but appreciating the fine art of sarcasm.

I wasn't attempting to be sarcastic. And if that was sarcasm it wasn't that clear.

Great news. Let's hope this retains it's "PC RPG" feel when I play on 360. Assuming it feels that way on PC and not consolized.

After Bioware's last two games, I have a really hard time getting too excited over this. Really feels like they mailed it in on the last two.

Fail. Fail for not recognizing that your past attempts at (fail) sarcasm were terrible, and fail for not realizing that I wasn't inferring you were being sarcastic now.

You've triple failed this combo.

If DA is anywhere as chatty as fucking Mass Effect, I have no interest. ME bored me to tears.

Quadruple fail for forgetting all of your old sarcastic posts that weren't very good.

Do you want to keep running up the counter? Fail combos usually lead to multi-fail multipliers.

I hope this is a return to form for Bioware, but I have the sneaking suspicion that it won't. I am an avid RPGer, but Mass Effect bored me to no end. I kept waiting for it to get good, never did. Last Bioware game I really friggin' enjoyed was Baldur's Gate 2. NWN was good, but for some reason I didn't play too far into it.

If it turns out as a medieval KotOR, I'm done with them.

I'll give it a shot. Only game I've ever played from them was KOTOR and I wasn't a fan. Hopefully there's a demo.

Whoever played ME on 360 played the retarded version. I have played console ports before, most of the time I prefer consoles because ports go wrong mostly. But the differences were drastic. If you have a mid-range setup, play Mass Effect on it.

I might just counter by ignoring you if this is the stupid shit you do for fun.
