I hadn't even heard there was going to be a sequel to this game.

See These Tales Characters In Tales Of The World: Radiant Mythology 2 (http://www.siliconera.com/2008/10/15/see-these-tales-characters-in-tales-of-the-world-radiant-mythology-2/) (Siliconera)Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 unites tons of characters from the never ending Tales series. Tales games sure are... prolific with their characters, aren't they?

I actually just got the first game from Gamefly the other day, and I'm a few hours into it. I'm enjoying it so far, so I'm definitely looking forward to more. :D

I was just thinking about that. He kept promoting the other one to me. It does sound nice though. A single player MMO, at your finger tips.

*swoon*

Seriously, the second this hits, I'm buying it, full price. I did wait on the first one but it's amazing. Single Player MMO is the best description of the game and being a fan of the Tales series, it's even better.

I'm not ashamed to say that ToW:RM (see how I did that?) is my favorite PSP title.

I've played through it about 6 times... 2 clean restarts with 3 new-game-pluses each. I love this game. Can't wait for the 2nd one.

If you like any Tales game you'll love this game. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it's the best Tales game on any platform (but I haven't played Vesperia.)

Ok, Spigot, you've got me interested. I'm a Tales hater, I've never liked the series. Would this game sway me or would it just be more of the same?

Ok, Spigot, you've got me interested. I'm a Tales hater, I've never liked the series. Would this game sway me or would it just be more of the same? It's very stripped down, at least in terms of story.

If you like the core combat part of the Tales series, that's what this boils down to. It is very much a single player MMO in that you just go around, running through dungeons, either alone or with a party, and do little quests for people back in the town. There's the crafting system (which is very robust) and you can swap jobs and then grind back up. Oh, and did I mention that you have a paper doll of a character who actually wears the various armour and weapons you slap on him/her instead of just getting an unseen stat boost?

There is a story, but it's nothing special. It's your basic "Something Evil Is Destroying The World. You Are The Chosen One. Go Forth, Waste A Lot Of Time, And Eventually Destroy It" kind of fare.

And while I love the cameos from all of the various Tales characters, I don't think you'd necessarily be missing anything if you aren't a huge fan. It's more that you'll get a little more of an inside chuckle at the way they interact.

Don't forget the epic loots. Radiant and green equipment that are quest rewards or very rare.

I have always had a love/hate relationship w/Tales, I love the combat as well as all the cooking/creating crap, but I would rather hear the death rattle of my only child that have to listen to the human rights violation that is Tales voice-acting...also the story is usually fairly lame.

Regardless though, I spent TOO much time getting all my radiant diggs in ToRM1.

The only Takes game I spent any real amount of time with was Symphonia. Loved the combat, but the story was a drag. It went on and on and had WAY too much filler in it.

The REAL letdown was when you went from the 'Dying' world to the opposite world which was supposed to be sucking the life out of the 'dying' world. Only when you get there, it looks the same. Same graphics, same everything. Sure, the map was different, but there was no real discernible difference. It was such a letdown.

Oh, and I'll agree with the AWFUL voice acting. I'd rather have no voices instead of that grating evil shit.

I, er... I actually really liked the Symphonia voice acting, esp. Lloyd's. It's not all great, but it's nowhere near as awful as a lot of other games and anime I've had to suffer through. Vesperia's VO is pretty decent too...

Of course, I also really liked the VO in FFX, so there you go.

I'm really picky about voice acting in games. It either needs to be top-notch excellent or not there at all.

Stay away from Blue Dragon, then! :)

You should play Two Worlds. ;)

Stay away from Blue Dragon, then! :)That is a violation of the Geneva Conventions right there... and I'm not even going to mention the gameplay :)

I can handle mediocre VO in games and I still thought that the Symphonia voice cast was actually a cut above mediocre... I'd say Good, though not Spectacular.

It was at least on par with a better dubbed anime and nowhere near the horrible crap I usually here in a dubbed anime and for that I'm happy.

And Two Worlds... Oh dear lord... That actually made Blue Dragon's english dub sound like Shakespeare!

Heh. The English dub of the Blue Dragon demo really turned me off to the whole game even though the Japanese trailers hooked me. Can you play it in Japanese? I usually prefer Japanese voice acting or no voice acting to hearing people say stupid things. Even in fighting games, I switch the voices to Japanese right away.

Blue Dragon is playable in English, French, or Japanese. You select the language prior to loading a game save. You can actually save the game, quit out, change the language, and reload.

Sorry for the thread derail, all.

Yes you can, but it still doesn't save it from the massive amounts of suck it is soaked in. It's almost better to play in English to fulfill the whole crappy Fox4Kids anime aesthetic they've got going on :)

The point of Two Worlds IS to sound like bad period piece acting. :)

They should have called the game Renaissance Festival. :D
