Codemasters has announced three more Overlord titles slated for 2009, with Rhianna Pratchett writing all of them.

First is Overlord II, the direct sequel to last year's darkly humorous strategy title. Overlord II will see release on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in 2009.

Next is Overlord: Dark Legend for the Wii. Not a port of the original Overlord, but not a direct sequel either. This game - designed from the ground up for the Wii controls - is more of a side-story to the original game.

Finally we have Overlord: Minions, a puzzle based game for the DS where you force the minions to solve puzzles.

These were announced about 3-4 months ago. ;)

The writer announcement is new, though.

Pikmin III sure was a fun game ;)

I thought Overlord was a lot more fun than Pikmin. I'm curious to see how they'll handle the Wii controls.

Man, I just realized that the statement I just made is getting old. We all say that, but it seems that there's a lot of fail in that regard.

And I still need to play one of those games. I think I'll wait for the Wii rereleases.

I love the original Overlord, so sign me up. I'm not 100% sure how Rhianna Pratchett's writing is, though I sure love Terry's :)

Probably a good idea - I think.

I am SOOO glad that Overlord is getting more development love. The first was very fun and very charming, but needed a good map. I'll be trying all three of these when they are released.

If you are interested in giving Overlord a shot, you can find it very cheap used. Also, Microsoft has a free patch that adds split-screen co-op!

If you liked the writing in the first one, you'll probably like the writing in the next one given she wrote for the first one.

She was also involved in writing the script or story or whatever for Heavenly Sword if I remember correctly.

Incidentally, I just bought Overlord on the weekend for $12.50AU brand new. Waiting until my CPA exams are over in a week and a half to play it, I've been eyeing it for a while.

Yay.

Seriously? That's awesome. I borrowed Overlord from a friend and need to give it back. :o

My wallet weeps. I loved the original Overlord. This is good news for me, bad news for my bank account!

I still need to get around to picking up the first one. I played the demo on 360 and really enjoyed it, and it comes from one of my favorite developers (Triumph Studios).

Still, Overlord II means no Age of Wonders III, so I view this announcement with mixed feelings. :p

Most excellent; she did a great job with the first! Good amounts of charm and comedy! Just hoping the second comes boxed with split-screen co-op!

I own the first but haven't got very far in it. Think I played for an hour or two tops. Keep meaning to pick it back up. It seemed okay.
