pop up problems

i seem to have a bug that causes random pop ups and sometimes new tabs in firefox...some sites show up as a search engine called searchme, others go to a site to watch women get naked on webcams for $25 a day

any help to get rid of this?

Looks like you have some browser hijacks there. If you have a decent virus checker/spyware remover then give it a try. Otherwise take a look at hijackthis.

It's not likely a bug. As Daze states, it's likely a browser hijacker. If you're looking for a good spyware/adware/malware removal tool, I suggest Spybot Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html). It's free.

Trend Micro Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/). Free, pretty up to date and is about 80% effective. Doesn't install, just runs once in a java applet or ActiveX control. Piling on a bunch of scanners is a good idea to get it clean, but if you decide to run a persistent scan, just stick with one.
