Crap, just checked Amazon and they are only doing a $10 cash back when you pre-order and not the code. It's best to do it through Amazon because there is zero money down and you can just cancel your pre-order as soon as you get the code.

Can you purchase back episodes of Qore? This one might be worth $4 bucks not to have to fight to get a beta key.

Downloaded the beta this morning. Holy crap that thing is big. Like 2.2 GB big. I only got a few minutes with it in the offline mode, but it feels good. I like the way the experience system works, you get xp for everything you do, not just kills. I'll have to actually take that online tonight.

And for anyone still looking to get into the beta, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/10/16/resistance-2-beta-begins-today/), they'll be giving away more codes next week. Of course, you can always pre-order at GameStop, too.

I tried it out. Only for about 45 minutes.
The coop seems fun. The versus seems hectic. The game overall seems to need more polish.
It is a beta, however, so I'm not expecting too much polish.
The character movement still seems like I'm just driving a camera around... no real weight or inertia to the movement, which sucks. The guns also still feel like they have no punch.

Just initial impressions.
Those are two very important factors for me, though, when it comes to a FPS.

Got my beta key last night but since I hadn't gotten the new FW update I couldn't download it. For some reason the update would stall out at 0% also, and I couldn't get it to take after 5 attempts. Connectivity was fine according to the test but it just could not get the firmware update. I'll try again after work. Last night I just said "fuck it" and went off to finish Dead Space instead.

Well, shit. Those were two of the major issues that kept me from liking the first - some of the other issues being lack of a smooth narrative and art style.

I played a bit tonight, it'd be great to play with some COG's. I played about 4 games, alot of people don't seem to understand how to make the classes work right and we died alot =), but one level we went through pretty far until I got some random network disconnect. Fun stuff, need to setup my bluetooth headset again though.

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure I remapped them. Triggers as... triggers is my preference too.

The game is meant to feel like an MMO, at least with the Tank/DD/Healer setup that you get. Because of that, though, more than other online shooters, teamwork is important, as is playing with good players. The games I've played so far have worked well because everyone has been doing what their class should. If you're in a game where everyone is just trying to do their own thing, yeah, it's going to get quite out of hand.
