Gonna go see it at the midnight premier tonight. This being a college town, I expect to see a bunch of people in costume. I hope it will be fun. The early reviews seem very positive and frankly, anything with a zombie in it gets at least a passing glance from me.

Probably going to check this out tomorrow. It's been a while since Ive seen anything with woody harrelson in it. There was Management which was awful except for the parachute/pool/automatic bb gun scene with Jango.

I'll try to check it out, but maybe not in theaters, as I don't get out to a theater that often. Woody may be a complete nutjob, but I typically enjoy seeing him in movies.

I bought a ticket for the midnight showing here. Part of the movie was filmed here so it's going to be a big deal locally.
Here's a local newspaper story about places they used and some of the locals they used as extras: http://www.valdostadailytimes.com/local/local_story_273000841.html

I had a free admission for two to a preview, but haven't been having the best week so I gave it to some friends who are gonna enjoy it. Hope it's good =)

I dunno. I generally love zombie movies, but this one just looks too cheesy and over the top. And I'm a big fan of Evil Dead 2.

Yeah, believability is important for me in my zombie comedies.
It's getting 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, with 40 reviews. Not bad...

Hey, I can suspend my belief if it's not wacky. Shaun of the Dead was hilarious, but not wacky. The reviews are indeed looking good for this one, but the trailer left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll probably watch it, not sure about at the theatre, though.

To each his own. The trailer is what made me want to see this: just crazy and comedic zombie action.

I knew I'd find you in here!
I actually just read a snippet of a review that said, "It earns itself a place on the same shelf as such classics as 'Evil Dead 2' and, yes, 'Shaun of the Dead.'" That's a damned bold statement if I ever read one.
I'll probably see it soon, and it'll probably be a lot of fun, but it'll take a lot to get me to agree with that review. I'll have to watch it for myself first. I don't usually like to read too many reviews before seeing a movie, but that one just jumped out at me big time.

I just got back from seeing a midnight show of it, and I loved it. One way I can describe it is it's kind of like if they made a comedy movie out of the zombie survival guide.

I really liked it. They could have spent a leeeetle more time killing zombies, if you ask me. But I'd say that about virtually any zombie movie.
Now I really want Dead Rising 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. Dammit.

EDIT: thanks and nevermind
DOUBLE EDIT: Am I the only one that was thinking the main kid was really trying to channel Michael Cera, even using his particular inflections and other speech patterns? I guess that's my only complaint. Otherwise, the reviews DangerChan read are pretty spot on. Instant zombie classic, and is the American equivalent of Shawn of the Dead

I went with a few friends and we all loved it. I would really like to see another title down the line because there is plenty to explore if they wanted to. Overall I'll pick it up when it's on DvD just because how hard some of the parts made me laugh.

I agree w/ this...it did seem like they were trying to channel Michael Cera, but it didn't hinder the movie in any way. Definately one of the better comedies I've seen in awhile (granted I really haven't seen any comedies (in theaters) in awhile, but that's beside the point).

Wait, that isn't Michael Cera? Wow. I've only been paying mild attention to trailers and other promotional material and if you'd asked me earlier who was in this movie I'd have said "Woody Harrelson and Michael Cera." I'm not even joking.

I saw this last night and loved it. The whole audience (including me) was cheering during several points in the film.
It also has the best celebrity cameo since Neil Patrick Harris in the Harold & Kumar movies.

Damn, I thought it was Micheal Cera too.
Anyway, it's not the best movie I've ever seen, but I dare say it's probably one of the most fun and enjoyable. It was just pure awesome.

That kid (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0251986/) has made his entire career as a low rent Michael Cera, that and starring in movies with the word "land" in the title.
That said Zombieland is a blast, everyone needs to go see it.

Great Movie... I find Eisenberg (who comes across as geeky) is way more likeable than Cera (who comes across as intellectually disabled), but I don't really think that either of them is really doing all that much acting. They're just being themselves in movies. Of course they both do well enough in the roles that they're given.

Great movie. Haven't laughed that hard in a theater for a while. Eisenberg and Harrelson were both hilarious, and Emma Stone is hot as shit. Also, there were zombies.

I liked the movie a lot, but I dunno, maybe it's just my sense of humor, but if it's compared with Evil Dead 2 and Shaun of the Dead, I'm sorry, I just find humor wise (for me) it scores as 3rd. I found ED2 and SotD more "laugh worthy" funny, but Zombieland was still incredibly amusing and very entertaining.
Definitely up there with the gore factor too. "Enjoy the little things"

Excellent movie. Also, Jesse Eisenberg is far better than Michael Cera. What's really interesting is that Emma Stone has been in movies with both actors.

Deffo. That was cracking.
I loved the banjo playing in the supermarket too.
I don't think it was the best movie ever, but it was certainly enjoyable the whole time and got a ton of laughs out of me. I'd recommend it.

Just got back from a late show and loved it!! I laughed really hard at several parts of the movie. The zombie action flagged for a bit but they ended with a definite bang. And that cameo was fan-freakin-tactic. The humor is not as subtle as Sean of the Dead, but I don't see how anyone could like the slapstick of Evil Dead and not like this movie. While the Micheal Cera comments may be apt, I don't think they are fair. The character was a socially inept, soft spoken, quirky guy which pretty much = every Cera character ever, and more or less his personality in real life.
Rule#1 Cardio...
Recommend this to flick to any zombie fan.

I just read this (http://io9.com/5375730/forget-a-zombieland-sequel-writers-have-12-films-planned), and it's really interesting. Short version: Zombieland was originally going to be an hour long TV show on CBS. But before the pilot shot, it was dropped. But the writers had mapped out the whole season to some degree or another. They adapted the first two episodes into the film, so they say they have about 12 sequels worth of material floating around in their heads. We may have a bona fide franchise on our hands.

I saw it after work Friday, and it was awesome. What's funny is that there was a commercial for the dvd release of Year One before the previews and I still thought that guy was Michael Cera. The fact that he's not explains a lot.

Yes, I'm another one of those people who saw the entire movie, loved it, and never knew it wasn't Michael Cera. And Emma Stone was fantastic. And I was thinking, "This would be a great TV series."
In short, I agree with the rest of this thread.

I can see what you mean. I thought it was awesome and hilarious and a lot of fun, but I just can't put it up there with those two movies yet. Maybe I'm being a hardass or something, but I think I need to see it a few more times before giving it a definite rank or deciding that it's among my favorite movies (because Evil Dead II and Shaun definitely are).

I actually thought that he WAS Michael Cera until they showed a full shot of him, at which point I was slightly confused.
Other than that initial confusion, I loved every minute of the movie. It's easily one of the funniest movies I've seen in ages, and I can't wait to rent it again on DVD. Oh, and
Bill Murray
was awesome. One of the best scenes in any movie, ever.

It would have sucked with Michael Cera. Jesse Eisenberg did a much better job than Cera would have.
