A tale of woe and D-cup hardware fail is available at the following link (http://www.ingamechat.net/audio/IGC20090924.mp3).
It's a real disappointment for the show that Arjay is repeatedly left out of the XBox Live camaraderie. Despite our best efforts to change his ways he's always been a one-console man and, for the moment, that console is the Playstation. Peer-pressure may be chipping away at his will, but the greatest strides have come with the recent death of his PS3. He's not quite to the point of embracing the XBox, but with any luck his fallback strategy of last-gen gaming will buckle under the weight of exaggerated tales from ODST.
Regarding Halo, it was a real shock for us to learn how much fun could still be had with this series. We were always fans of the game's world , even when we were at odds with its game play. It's been nice to reconcile the one with the other after all this time. With any luck, the reconciliation will continue into the foreseeable future.

I'm glad I'm not the only one frustrated about the Beekeeper.

Well shit. We just recorded another podcast last night with none of us aware Reach was confirmed as an FPS. Thanks for the heads up. Not sure how every one of us managed to miss that.

Hey, I heard that! I heard James say, "Jesus," when Scott said the VM was from me! That's okay, though; I've been trying to cut back on the nonsensical pointless stuff. Glad you thought the info was interesting, and here's a link to the website (http://www.toysrustradeincenter.com/) that'll tell you all the values of Toys R Us trade-ins (you can just go into the store, also).
I was hoping you'd get to it before James traded away Batman, because they were giving $38 for that at the time.

I am almost certain he was saying that in reference to something stupid I was doing or attempting to do. No worries there.

Arjay - you have GOT to play Geometry Wars.
The one thing I hate about ODST is that there is no matchmaking for Firefight, which basically means that I can only play it solo or in a duo if I'm lucky, since precious few people on my rather small friend list have the game.
Otherwise, though, the game is brilliant. I'm getting close to the end of my Heroic campaign playthrough, and looking forward to soloing Legendary, also. You guys mentioned playing differently as a result of the ODSTs being a little more fragile; that's something that I only barely noticed because I typically hang back and pick off guys one by one anyway. The Halo style encouraged by ODST pretty much just matches what beating my head against Legendary in the other games trained me to do, I guess.

Ah, I see. Still glad you guys got a laugh out of the translation. I need to send you guys an email about this GameCrazy business too; I really don't want people getting screwed over.

In response to the discussion of Scribblenauts (that was this episode, right? I'm a little behind...), the "par" is more of a guide than a rule in that you aren't really penalized for going over. You get fewer Ollars, sure, but you can still pass and be over par so don't let your creativity feel limited by it.

hey guys,
since you were wondering, and i am the rma my ps3 expert, this is how it works. sony knows you will be replacing your hard drive, but will not mention or bring it up. i have had to call each time i put in my own hard drive to have sony send me more screws (they always strip, and the ones they send usually dont). So, if you send your ps3 to sony, PUT IN THE ORIGINAL hard drive and keep your own.
unlike the 360 though, if you have your own drive, keep it, and put it in a repaired ps3, you WILL lose your data. reason being, when you put in a hdd in a ps3 that it wasnt in before, it will force a format. James, just so you know, you WILL NOT get your ps3 back to sony. mine, latest repair, all scratched up and what not 60 gig, but the one i got back still had the plastic covers on it and was essentially brand spankin new (besides it being rma, it looked new). the way it works is you dont just get a ps3 back, you get the same model back. for instance, 60 gig model # is the cecha-01 (01 being region1, and a corresponding to the A revision)
so in RJ's case, it will likely be a cechB-01 that he will have and get back, but the serial no. will be different.
IF YOU GET YOUR PS3 REPAIRED BY SONY, you will need to have them deactivate your account on the old ps3. the way sony's copy protection works is you have 5 game activations and 1 video activation per account. not 5 downloads as they told you before.
as for why the ps3 ylod's in the first place, it could be caused by 3 different issues:
1. the motherboard heating and cooling causes the cheap solder to crack and disconnect (most typical, and this is what the youtube videos have you fix)
2. the gpu or cpu becomes lifted out of socket because the motherboard warps from the heating and cooling (what happens to the 360 in the rrod)
3. the power supply has a broken capacitor
reasons this happens:
1. cheap ass solder on the motherboard. seems to not happen as much, but it still happens on every single model of the ps3 (dont know yet about the slim, but it is much smaller with half the power and such running through it., compared to the 60 gig)
2. the way the motherboard is mounted in the case. instead of a tradition pc where you have the 8-10 mounting screws, it just sits in the plastic with 4 or so screws in the corners and basically nothing in the middle except holes for the drives and such to mount on. also, the motherboard has metal sheets on either side of the motherboard, so it really holds in the heat easily. because of this, the heating and cooling will warp the hell out of it despite having a massive fan and heatsink with the copper pipes and such.
3. no idea why the power supply issue happens, i'm guessing it is heat related though.
anything else?

p.s. if you want to stick with ps3 RJ just get a slim. its 150 bucks to get it repaired and you only have a 90 day warranty. the youtube stuff might fix it for now, but it will comeback. best thing to do is grab the one with the lowest power requirements and be thankful you have the smaller size cpu and the 2x blu-ray drive.
20/60 gig: 90 nm
80/160 gig: 65 nm
120 gig (slim): 45 nm

I think the main difference isn't in the approach to fighting enemies. I'm kinda the same way. I would hang back as Master Chief all the time. Sniping was one of my favorite modes of attack. If anything, I'm a little more aggressive in ODST than I was in any of the other games.
I think the big difference is in the choice to fight. As Chief, you were rewarded for the compulsion to kill everything. Or at the very least, you weren't penalized. As the ODSTs, and especially as the Rookie, you have to choose when it's appropriate to fight, or when the best option is to cut and run. Getting access to the Mongoose really justified one of my personal sayings: "Discretion is the better part of valor; the better part of discretion is running the fuck away."

We recorded after we posted the show. Only six hours after... But at least the sequence is still correct. :p

It was this, which was on the tails of trying to play Matt's voicemail several times, which was inaudible. A minor clusterfuck which we purged from the recording. :)

Yep. Hopefully it will be up a bit later so we can post the new show.
EDIT: Apparently it returned this morning. Huzzah! Thanks Scott, for dealing with those assholes.
