Any way to report bots from profile page?

I've spotted three bots on CoG in the past couple of weeks, the most recent being our newest member, elisadiajag (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/member.php?u=667). If you look at the profile information, it's similar to that of the other two with "Man" being the Biography and the First Name being "123456." Is there a "report" button I'm missing?

Well, it's just that the bot hadn't posted anything yet. And I guess it's not really being a problem if it hasn't posted anything, but I just figured it'd be cool to stop it before it even becomes a problem (hence wanting to report it from its profile page). Probably not a huge deal, but it'd be nice.

Understandable, and I'm sure everyone appreciates your vigilance. I'd tend to worry about false positives if we start reporting profiles, though; all of the spambots have fallen into a distinct pattern, but it's not inconceivable that some cagey but real person might fill out their profile in a similar fashion.

The second they spam, there isn't any doubt left. :)

Either way, we have a lot of eyes on the forum at any given moment, casting a pretty wide net. If everyone does their part and reports spam when they see it, I personally think the problem will remain pretty negligible. Up one second, down the next. Forgotten five minutes later.

Heh. Happens all the time. Sometimes they register just so they can "harvest" the member list for email addresses, MSN ID's, etc. Sometimes IP blocking works, although most of the spammers I've encountered bounce IP's now. All you can really do is keep vigilant. Report the ones you see, and let the admins routinely sweep the rosters for suspect email addresses or other personal info (like how the name is 123456 - most repeat spammers I've come across fall into a pattern - use the same junky email host, or uses the same pattern of usernames, or similar IP group, etc) and just dump/ban accounts as they crop up.

As for all of these bots, it does indeed sound like we need a captcha for account creation. That would put a stop to most of these. I'll forward this idea on to Fits and hopefully something will be done.

Many forums limit access to registered members. So they sign up bots to spider across the whole board (posts, profiles, and member lists) to harvest as much crap as they can. email addresses, IM usernames, etc. :mad:
