Woe to You Oh Earth and Sea
for the Devil sends the beast with wrath
because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding
reckon the number of the beast
for it is a human number
its number is six hundred and sixty six

You know, historians are pretty sure the number 666 isn't the actual number refered to in Revelations. It was a failed translation somewhere along the way.

Can no one usurp this title from the ForumGod? Can no one disconnect his internets?

Of course we're going to die.

Here's a real question; if someone on the boards died, how would we ever know? I mean, it does happen. Just this year, two of my students have had family members die (a teenage sister, and a 50's father). How would we ever know? Would we want to?

Just struck me...

I'm more concerned with the fact that even on CoG -- as on EvAv before -- fits is STILL the top poster.

Some time prior to my ban, I had 3,000 posts removed. I was actually ahead of him for a while, but the elimination of 3K kept me from actually passing on the 'board.'

True story. Not one I plan on repeating here, though.

Johan the solution is to have all CoG members tagged on sign up. A little chip that monitor's their vital signs etc... We'd be sorted.

On a more serious note this is something I've thought about before. I mean I have a lot of people I talk to regularly who my family have no idea about. How would those people know if I died, or was in a coma etc... rather than just thinking I was being a jerk and had disappeared. It's a sad thought.

Yeah, I have thought of that. I remember thinking about people who used to post a lot on EvAv, and then just stopped. No goodbye thread or anything. Remember the dude in the wheelchair, QuickieGT or something? When was the last time you saw him? Unless of course he just changed his name, which is a dirty trick.

Oh shit, The Future tells us if we can't stop it, it will. (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/13/science/space/13lhc.html?_r=2)

No, I’m talking about the notion that the troubled collider is being sabotaged by its own future. A pair of otherwise distinguished physicists have suggested that the hypothesized Higgs boson, which physicists hope to produce with the collider, might be so abhorrent to nature that its creation would ripple backward through time and stop the collider before it could make one, like a time traveler who goes back in time to kill his grandfather.

“It must be our prediction that all Higgs producing machines shall have bad luck,” Dr. Nielsen said in an e-mail message. In an unpublished essay, Dr. Nielson said of the theory, “Well, one could even almost say that we have a model for God.” It is their guess, he went on, “that He rather hates Higgs particles, and attempts to avoid them.”

That may be perhaps the greatest excuse ever. (Well, that or the guy that claimed he was just surfing porn to help the disenfranchised girls of third-world countries.) I mean, you can’t prove it one way or another, so I can see it getting a lot of play: “I’m sorry, sir, but its failure is, in fact, unquestionable proof of its success. And, no, you can’t see the books, so stop asking.”

EDIT: Also, as far as LHC-related topics go, this was a bizarre pick.

this actually came up a few years ago on another forum i was on, unfortunately the circumstances didn't pan out too well as the guy that passed on was the owner of the site, only 1 other member had god admin status and instead of doing what the members wanted by leaving the former site owner's account active as a tribute, with this DOB-DOD in the user title, he decided to piss everyone off by deleting the account and userping all power of attorny over the guys assets and estates.
