TheEpicOfTyler has it right though. I startedplaying when I got home from work.. I looked at the clock and it was 11pm and it was time for Family Guy and bed...
Story is so immersive.!!
Yeah, I was unlucky enough that the kids didn't want to sleep last night, so I only got to play from 10-12, that was really hard to put down. Hell, I already want to replay what I've already done, I just hope Crushing isn't as insanely hard in Uncharted 2 as it was in the original game, I still need to do that in the first.

I expect it to be equally as hard. One of the reasons why I didn't play it on hard right out of the gate because I didn't want to be frustrated to the point of not enjoying it... like I was in Resistance 2.

Yeah, I started on Normal so I could just enjoy it. I beat the first game on Hard with little problem, but starting over on Crushing was just plain brutal.

Looks like this fall belongs to the PS3.
At least in my home, anyway. I might even pick up a couple multi-platform titles for it since I'll be in front of it most of the time anyway.

*gush gush*
I only got to the beginning of Chapter 3 last night and I hear that Chapter 2 was the worst part of the whole game. If that is true then I can't wait to play more cause I loved what I've seen so far. The visuals are amazing, the gameplay is tight, the characters are great (although I find Chloe a bit annoying so far... Elena was much more charming), the story is just getting started but intriguing.
/gush
I just hope I can find more time to play this week with all the craziness. My wife and I are leaving for vacation on Sunday and there is a lot to get done before then :(.

My initial impressions were disappointed in how slow the game gets going. But it totally get better over time. Every chapter seems to one-up the next.

The game hits the ground running with the train bit in the first chapter but it feels a bit clunky because of Nate's condition slowing him down. The platforming and level design in the second chapter is really good but the stealth gameplay feels a bit off. You can tell that the game isn't designed around stealth. Basically, at this point I want them to give me a real gun and let me shoot some bad guys. With the setup for chapter 3, it looks like I'll be doing that very soon.

I think they're trying to force you how to use stealth, from what I've played of the next two chapters, it's very useful.

Totally agree. I LOVE the new stealth aspect. The first game had the ability to do this in certain situations, but it wasn't setup throughout the game. You really feel like you're playing a movie... killin a few guys stealthy, then when the snipers or rocket launcher guys are out of the way, throw some nades and get to shootin'.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love the new stealth takedowns and I can see how useful they will be throughout the game. It's just that an entire level based around it didn't feel quite right. It wasn't bad by any means but it is only one of Nate's weapons. I'm anxious to start using them all.

Yeah, it did feel pretty awkward, but I almost like that it forces you to learn to use the stealth right. It got me used to going around corners in cover, that's for sure.

Not only did it feel a bit awkward, there were a few instances that the enemy should have clearly seen me And didn't.

Stealth, after Chapter 2, will only be an option through the rest of the game. I've yet to use it to actually evade combat. It only really helps me to recon, gather weapons and ammo, and get into position to open fire.
Troggles
10-14-2009, 08:34 AM
Stealth is pretty useful later on for getting into position for a big firefight. I'm also glad that I don't have to move real slow, finding shadows, and all that boring bullshit that other stealth games have. That would really ruin the pace of the game.

In the beginning temple area, right? Yeah, the train in this game's opening already topped that. :p Seriously, I wish I could just take off work and send the wife and kids out for the day and do nothing but play, I don't know how I'm going to get any work done today.......
The beginning of that game has to be one of the best ever. The "hurt" walking / climbing animations were amazing. You really felt like you were messed up.

Stealth is very rewarding as you get later into the game. I've died in firefights and upon reloading, I've stealth killed everyone and avoided being shot at once, less calls for backup too. ;)

For those of you who were waiting on the EDGE review.... (http://www.edge-online.com/magazine/review-uncharted-2-among-thieves?page=0%2C0)
Uncharted 2’s biggest success, perhaps, is that it takes the player on a journey. There is enough foliage at certain points to inspire warm memories of the first game, but this adventure is a more far-reaching one, breaking out from the confines of an island to drop Drake into climates that differ between chapters. Crucially, what you do in these places varies too, and it’s the promise of the next expertly choreographed set-piece, the next eye-poppingly realised environment, the next story-twisting encounter between characters, that makes Uncharted 2 the most absorbing game of 2009 to date, the sort that makes three hours of play feel like one.
They gave it a 9/10. As if there was ever any doubt.

Heh.... that reminds me of when I first played God of War... after I did the first level (up to the Hydra battle), I put down the controller and said "this is going to be the Game of the Year." It was only MARCH of that year, and my co-workers therefore told me I was nuts. When award time came though, I believe that game ended up doing quite well, getting individual awards as well as game of the year from multiple publications.
From what I've played so far, I can see Uncharted 2 coming away with a few of these awards.

What??????????? That's impossible!! Gaming forums have told me that EDGE hates the PS3 and is very biased against it. They can't stand PS3 exclusives and mark them down on purpose just to generate more views!!!!!!!!!! MGS4 an 8? What an outrage, I'm flipping tables........ grrrrrrrrrrrrr. I've said it many times over that EDGE is the closest to my own personal opinion on games and I trust them by far and above all other review sources. They are the only ones that "get it" in my opinion.
But to be honest, there are only a few weeks left before MW2 and a couple of my friends already bought and beat UC2. I won't have much time to put into the title before I start into another game. I may just wait until the Xmas break to play Uncharted.

It's Call of Duty 6. Pfft. I don't think any Call of Duty game has ever deserved any high award. I like them enough, but c'mon. :)
Call of Duty has pretty much become a MP game with a short SP campaign added on. I still think Uncharted will mop up extensively. As it probably should. But because it's a PS3-only game it won't sell as well and will be overlooked by many gamers. Thankfully, not the critics.

Wow. Made it to Chapter 18 in my one sitting yesterday and was really impressed throughout.
Trying in vain to find something negative the only thing I can come up with is that it's really, really linear. Like, even in a Tomb Raider there is the ability to explore an environment and get lost a bit seeking treasures, but here it just seems as if they are hidden in the existing rooms, so that there is less actual exploration and more just finding. Still, I haven't even discovered half of them so maybe I'm just not trying hard enough. It's really hard to stop and search when the narrative pushes me forward so strongly.
And when I walked into the temple room with the giant statue holding the globe I let out a "Holy Fucking Shit!". Really beautiful and so many gorgeous details in this game.
I can't wait to finish just so I can go through it again, and I don't say that very often.

I agree with you that I don't think MW2 will deserve it over Uncharted 2, but virtually every gaming organization out there seems to be talking about it like it's the first coming of Christ. They have to give it the award to justify their hype.

There are a few that I've found where I felt really proud of myself for figuring out how to get. The linearity of the game doesn't bother me so much in general, but the specific linearity of each objective is the only negative I have so far. I'd love to be able to figure out different paths to reach the new objective rather than always be forced to jump up 1 specific part of a wall to move forward.
Still, it's very close to being my favorite game of all time.

When the yeti things started showing up I let out a very loud groan and said "You fucking did it again, Naughty Dog.", but they really pulled it out I think. Shambhala was fucking awesome. I thought they killed of Elena and I was about to throw my PS3 out the window but they were just yankin' my chain. :)

I haven't read a big part of this thread and only payed 2.5 hours but here are my first impressions.
The game starts of amazingly. The train stuff is awesome and looks stellar. Great way to introduce the story and get things started. I could have done without the talky flashbacks though. They put an incredible break on a really intense intro. Just seemed a bit boring next to it. Good acting though, just a bit drawn out.
Then the museum bit hit and was incredibly disappointed by it. It really was kinda crap. Not exciting, stupid ai, and very much a trial and error bit. I know it's linear but some dynamic ai and real challenge would have been nice in such a high profile game. They just stood there with me 1 meter next to them and they didn't fucking see me at all.
It got better after that, the jungle looked amazing, gun play was the same as 1, etc. Just like Uncharted 1 basically.
I stopped after just hitting the Nepalese village. I hope it get's better form there.
i like it, but I'm not blown away at all at this point. The museum level really showed off some massive flaws. I wish they just skipped that, maybe I wouldn't have a bad taste afterward when I hit the jungle. There's just too much crap which annoys me. Camera is a bit wonky in small spaces (museum again, meh), the ai isn't really great at times and the stealth is just lame. Really, leave that shit alone. Leave it for Splinter Cell.

My only complaint is about the way some of the stealth takedowns work, mainly for guys who are leaning against a bench/log (see: the museum and early jungle parts). I was able to do some cool takedowns over ledges and such, but sneaking up behind a guard who was leaning against a thick log never seemed to work. I'd invariably punch the air, alert the guard and then it was either game over or a firefight would ensue.
And I liked what the Museum was trying to pull off as I'm still amongst those who don't concider the gunplay that strong in either Uncharted game. If they'd let me pull off a few of those 'hidden behind things' takedowns, I'd have had no complaints about that part.
At least the guards you're fighting in Uncharted 2 have body armour this time instead of kevlar tropical shirts. Drake even makes mention of that during his first fight with a baddie, which made me smile.
But I'm loving it so far (haven't had a lot of time to play, unfortunately) and now that my vacation is ALMOST starting, I plan to sit down and put a lot more time into the game.

Ha! I might, actually. :p
I'll have to start it on that and see if it frustrates me as much as Crushing in the first game. In the first I only made it as far as the wrecked plane, that section is really annoying on Crushing. I'll still go back and try again, but having 3 guys rushing your cover spot when you can only really take 3 shots, and one has a shotgun, that's not fun, that's just cheap.

Made it a short ways past the train ride. Damn that area was awesome. I feel bad for not looking around more at all the scenery as it flew by, but I was really into the action and was focused working my way up the train.
I had a funny thing happen. Was hanging on the side of one of the cars early on and a guy walked by on top of it and I was able to reach up, grab his ankle, and pull him off the side. I tried it again later on but this time when I went for the ankle, the guy jumped and I missed the grab. He then totally panicked and looked all confused. This gave me time to whip out my pistole and blast him off the far side of the train car. (I love that gun :))

Played up through chapter 19 last night. I am just as impressed with the middle third of the game as I have been with the first bit. Definitely liking the way the story's been going, and the cutscenes have been fantastic and never unwelcome or overbearing. The game is progressing much more like a great movie than I would've ever expected it to.
I do think it's a little funny that they make you do the train-climbing part twice (albeit a little shorter the second time through). That part was awesome and well-done enough for it to not make it seem like a chore. And to hear Nate go "I'm so sick of climbing shit" was just great.
Interested in seeing how this one ends, but definitely going to be upset when it's over.

Lots of Stuff
I know where you are coming from. It took me a while to settle into my skin, I guess you could say. I smiled when I started walking through the jungle again as it reminded me of the first game, but then I found out just how rusty I was with combat and trying to find my way around.
Nepal was a slow start for me....then I got to the hotel and EVERYTHING changed.
Everything seems like an uphill climb to Chapter 7...then shit gets real, yo. Hang in there.

Tell me about it. The scene (spoiler):
in the Nepalese mountain village, prior to the convoy level? Chapter is called Cat and Mouse, I believe. I must've died about 20 times. So many enemies, plus that huge armor bearing down on me.
But it never ceased to be fun or impressive. Just tough.

Same here, I died plenty of times throughout that whole level. But it was a lot of fun doing so. I would have to retry as many as 5 times to get to the next checkpoint. I'm at the last boss on hard, shut the game off after a couple tries. It was 2am on a work night so I didn't have much choice, but so far the last boss is the only thing I don't like about the game.
Excellent game overall, game of the year contender for sure. So many breathtaking moments.

Yeah, it's probably just me re-adjusting myself to new stuff and into the game again. The only bit that really anoyed the fuck out of me was the part where you hit the fountain and there's 8 guards there, doing totally nothing but standing still half asleep. The museum could save a lot of money just hiring 2 which actually patrol some:D It just seemed such an implausible situation it just baffled me how that got through the design choices.

Well, I wouldn't hold too much fault for those few Chapters....1 gets you comfortable again with climbing (opening), 2 shows you stealth and hand to hand (museum), and 3 gets you back into gunplay (jungle).
As for implausible situations...you might wanna let that go before you get further. I could easily believe 8 guys doing nothing but standing still half asleep more so than I can some of the other AWESOME shit about to go down for you.

Speaking of implausable, in Chapter 10:
When you fall into that pit with the spiked ceiling there's a gun down there for you to shoot the teeth out of the gears in case you didn't have any ammo. I understand it's a design decision, since getting stuck down there with no ammo would mean death, I just thought it was funny that there was a gun there seeing as how you really should be the first people down there in hundreds of years. :p

I think the story in the first game was easier to follow for myself since I knew more about Sir Thomas Drake and what he did than Marco Polo. I still don't even know if the whole ship thing is made up or true. I wasn't able to figure it out doing some research yesterday for the review. I can't even find room to complain about the gunplay in UC2 versus the first game. The fights are so much more dynamic this time around. There always seems to be a way to flank your enemies and hand to hand combat seems a lot more effective overall. It feels like there are multiple ways to handle each battle and that keeps it from feeling like you are doing the same thing over and over again. It still isn't perfect but it's much improved.

Trying to help where you are stuck
They are not as agile as Nathan, so use the two far sides of the area to your advantage. One has a hole in the wall, so cover there and shoot one of them (concentrate on one)...the other side has a low wall I believe. When they come after you (and for some reason they hone in on you and not the girls) jump over the wall in both cases and run to the other side.
Concentrate fire on one of them and eventually they will die. Then pick up their Golden Crossbow and it takes one shot to kill the others, just be sure you make them count because ammo on the crossbow is VERY low. Hope that helps.
Also, in case anyone missed it, I did put my review up today (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=12943). It is spoiler free except for the early parts of the game where you learn the three major gameplay elements.

Just finished and I'm fairly confident in saying this is one of my favorite games of all time. If not number one, definitely in the top five. I don't think I've ever laughed as hard or often in a game before, and I know I've never been as emotionally connected to the characters. Even the occasionally difficult and somewhat frustrating combat encounters are a joy to play, making me pause for a minute afterward to catch my breath.
I want to play it again on Hard and possibly Crushing, but I'm not sure how the final battle would even be possible to finish on Crushing.

This game turned out to be a great sequel. Their was never really any doubt but thank god.
I just finished it and started a little bit through crushing. I'll beat it and then run through with all the fun stuff turned on and collect the treasure at leisure.
The pacing of this game was excellent, the first one had a bit too much gun play and..."How did they get ahead of us I thought we were in an unexplored tomb and they are following us every step of the way". The flow of the game is the closest thing to perfect since Persona 3's events that just seem to fit so well despite like this game being linear. The treasures are hidden in..more vertical places this time around that i don't like(You have to shoot a lot of them down, annoying i mean WHO shoots valuables down...Nate climbs things more than altair and the prince of persia combined, you'd almost think this is an ubisoft game).
The multiplayer was fun during the beta, i'm gonna start on that tonight/tomorrow since i've just completed the game.

My main problem was with the later parts of the game, where there were many ledges that looked like they should be climbable, and weren't. This made the game way too linear, as there were sections like the tank battle where I found what seemed to be the correct path to take, and it worked for some time, but then normally reachable places were inaccessible, killing me. Also, the area where you find the sewer lid to get to Shambala, there are enemies on a ridge that's at head height...but you can't jump up there, and one guy was just sitting behind a crate taking pot shots. I eventually just tossed a grenade, but I was hoping to add a little style. Plus, too many times the other characters would get in the way when I'd dodge a grenade, I'd die because they are brick walls and they live to scream my name. Odd that this really only occurred toward the end...like they were getting sloppy. This made the first game feel much more solid. And that frustrating me yet the end boss being quick for me just kind of ruined it. Excellent game though...one of the best this year, but with the money and power behind it, it could have been tighter.
Also, NO UNIQUE TWIST. It was pretty lame really. It didn't have to be far out, but it could have been much more exciting.
Exodus
10-18-2009, 12:40 AM
Hmm, I don't agree with Adam that the game needed a twist but..I do think that the ending could have used a bit more plot build up. It just seemed like we went there, saw a buncha stuff, killed the bad guys and went home. Not terrible but more involvement of the shaggy ones in terms of plot development to reach the climax would have made it a bit more enjoyable. Not just, they show up here and there...a little put out but the game still kicks ass compared to what it has for competition.

I'm not going to waste time repeating a lot of what others have already said. I'll just add that they seemed to have ironed out what gripes I had about the first, and it's definitely one of the games of the year. There are some nits in the story that could be picked. But honestly, if my only real complaints are with some of the finer story points, then I know I've got an excellent game on my hands.

Not really. There is no point in this game where I want to stop playing. I'm only up to Chapter 12, but so far, it's been set piece after set piece and the breather moments you get only tell you that the awesome is not too far away.
Hell, during the breather moments, you actually want to continue just to hear some banter dialogue.
I have a hard time forcing myself to stop. I'm only doing this so I don't finish to soon. I'm really trying to cherish each moment with the game. No, I don't want it to end...ever.
TLDR: UNCHARTED 2 IS THE MOST AMAZING GAME I'VE PLAYED IN A VERY, VERY, VERY LONG TIME. It's just so amazing. I want to marry it.
I agreed with all your points but it's this one that I feel the most with you. I've had this incredible feelings with this game, now I know what it is. I wish to marry it :)
That was my big issue in the museum. It was clear that the one guard was to be taken down from behind. I never did find how to do it. And the stealth moves to try to pull off in later chapters at time is hair pulling out difficult. I love the stealth moves in the game, but wish it was a tad easier to do without having the guards see you.
I was shocked I went entire levels without nabbing any treasures. Especially when there were as many as 9 in a particular level. I'm almost done with level 2 on crushing, then I get to shoot things and see how that goes! ;)
The treasures in the first game were challenging to find. This time around it's even tougher for me. I search like mad for them but coming up empty. I hate not finding treasures. I'll play through again just to find most of them
I can't add much on the game other than to just gush more. What seemed to be issues in the last Uncharted, is now polished beyond belief. I'd say to those who played Uncharted and didn't like it, you should give this game a try. It's improved that much.

The majority of the time you can not stealth everyone. It's set up so you can stealth kill a few of them, but rarely can you kill everyone without being seen. There are invariably a few guards posted in ways that you simply can't get by without being seen, which is a tad frustrating, but most of the time the battles are worth it.

Well i'm in chapter 6 and I was told to take out one of the men quietly. I'm guessing it was the guy in the truck. I couldn't figure out how to take him down. I just ended up in a fire-fight and just moved on. I do wish I could take down the few you are supposed to before gunning your way out. I did pull off a "pull guy through an open window" move. I can't even figure out how to do that. I loaded up a saved game I had from the middle of the game, I exited to the main menu and I can't skip around anymore. It's almost like, after you beat the game, it won't allow you to jump around. can anyone confirm this?

Naughty Dog is VERY careful about what you are allowed to do before beating the game. You cannot buy anything from the single-player store until you've finished the game. Nor can you go back through any chapters until you have finished the game.
Once finished though, you can go to ANY of the chapters.

So that was satisfying :D.
And I finally get the pool joke :D. Double dipping is a must ;)
Is that the dude with the RPG in the back of the truck? There's a dude standing next to the truck that you need to take out first. Then jump up and hang off the back and yank his ass down. He'll die from the 3 foot fall. After that you literally can't stealth anyone else because of what happens next.
And one of my favorite parts of the game is when you do one of the first pull downs. Flynn's comments had me literally laugh out loud the first time I heard it.
Hmm...I never did try the filters. Well, now I am curious about what else you can unlock before finishing the game.I assume just video and concept art along with the filters. I'm on chapter 16 and no "cheats" or character skins so far.

Biggest problem I have is with this quote:
"It's certainly in the top running for "best action game ever" with Resident Evil 4/5, Metal Gear 4, Half Life 2, and you know...the best games basically ever made."
RE5 as one of the best action games ever? Really? That's simply insane as that game blew giant, Shaq-sized chunks.

Before we throw GotY around like it's a party favor, there are still some games that could take it from Uncharted 2. I would say it's personally the best game so far this year that I've played, but we still have:
Assassin's Creed II
Dragon Age: Origins
Left 4 Dead 2
CoD: MW2
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
There's also Batman: Arkham Asylum that many may put above Uncharted 2.
There may be others, but those are off the top of my head. You never know, MW2 could blow us all away even though we are easily dismissing it.

Dragon Age: Origins may end up being very good, but from what I've seen thus far, I'm not impressed.
Assassin's Creed II may well a strong contender. It would have to be a huge improvement over the original to really compete with Uncharted 2 though. The first one was fun, but based on that one I simply can't see it overshadowing U2.
I hated L4D, and wasn't impressed with the first CoD:MW. And I would never give Game of the Year to a Wii game as they're all handicapped by poor controls.
Batman was good for a Batman game, but I thought inFamous was better than Arkham Asylum.
Personally, I can't see any game beating Uncharted 2 for game of the year, but I'd also give it my game of the decade award right now.

AC2 could be a stunner. The first really earned my affection, and if they build intelligently on the first's foundation, then it could surprise people.
I predict Dragon Age will be an extremely well crafted RPG - it is Bioware after all - but will end up being the gaming equivalent of comfort food, not really excelling like a GOTY ought.
I won't go into much detail for fear of fanning flames, but L4D2 and MW2, while being must play titles, aren't in the running in my book.
The Wii, well... it's the Wii. The first and last contender it might have had for GOTY was Twilight Princess.
Demon's Souls is great for a niche title.

How does it have more hours? I could play Uncharted 2 MP for 200 hours as well. Every MP is the same that way. Quantity isn't quality.

Going by the expansion theory, L4D2 is just gonna be more L4D. If that's the case, I've pulled more than 200 hours in a game with only 4 levels. So yeah I agree, quantity isn't quality. It's a good thing then that L4D is all quality.
I also agree that Uncharted 2 has a great multiplayer. To me though, it just doesn't feel like it has the lasting ability of either TF2 or L4D. But then, what does?

Yeah, from what I've heard it sounds like a game that you really should play on PC. I'm just a sucker for dark fantasy, it may be cliche but we don't see it too often these days (aside from Demon's Souls of course :p).
EDIT: And I just don't see AC2 being in that same league, unless it's a vastly improved game. I liked the first game, but it was deeply flawed, and far too repititious. If they can fix the repitition they may have something.

Batman was a fantastic game that just came out. It's a toss up between Uncharted 2 and Batman for the game I've most enjoyed this year. I could see MW2 getting it's hooks into a lot of people even though it will be very similar to the previous games. L4D2 won't win GotY but I'm willing to bet it will be tons of fun. I'm with you on the original game, which I expound upon in my review at our last place of residence. Everything I have heard/seen for myself as well as conversations with other journalists that have played it more than I have point to AC2 having fixed the problems from the original and being an overall better game.
Even the developer itself says that AC2 is several times better than the original and that the final AC2 product is what they had hoped AC would have turned out like, but they didn't have the time to flesh it out. Yes, this is all hyperbole, but I think we may be surprised at AC2.
Supposedly the side missions are not a requirement for assassination anymore and the game is more open world than the original. The side missions are more plentiful in types as well from what I understand.
I'm with everyone saying Uncharted 2 is the best I've played so far, but there are still 2.5 months left in the year. Batman is right up there too, but as I said in my review I find U2 the better of the two games.

MW2, AC2, etc might be stellar. But I just don't really care, I probably won't even play them this year. AC2 just doesn't look that hot to me. Even with all the extra's. It's universe just lost all appeal to me after 1. I'll probably buy Tekken 6 over all of the other games mentioned or something.

What kind of stupid motherfucking dumbfuck motherfuckers use that kind of layout? It's a fake goddamn trigger for a reason, dumbucks; don't fuck with a working formula. I can already tell this bitch is going to make me spew some more venom and prepare to shit in the mouths of the Naughty Dog developers. Motherfucking retards!

I'm pretty sure reload was X in the first game. I was used to that config. In U2, X does nothing.

In the first Uncharted, X is Jump, R1 Shoot, R2 Reload.

If your X button does nothing you must be having troubles getting out of the first level. Jumping is quite hard without it.

Is there a button configuration in the options screen? Not that I want to change anything, but just wondering. I wont be able to check until possibly Friday night.

I'm well into the second chapter and so far...meh. I dunno, it's not grabbing me. Partly it's that after playing PoP for so long the animations in UC2 seem half-ass (for all it's faults that game was smooth as fucking butter). The other part is that I've always found the Nathan character to be a bit of a twat in that Friends way. In fact, a big twat in that way. So he grates on me.
And wtf is with having to press X to leap on to a ledge instead of just letting us guide there with the joystick? Way to break the flow. Again, it goes back to the fact that a year-old game has much better animations/movements/a sense of weight than this game. It's a floater.

I understand in a way. The trigger/shoulder buttons are just ridiculous on the PS gamepads, but since it sells, they have no reason to change it. On a 360 pad, with R-trigger to shoot, it would have been beautiful. For now I have to deal with making a claw, while curling my pinky in tight to grasp the controller.

So far I'm out $50, my dick hasn't been sucked and I don't think my BR will ever play again. That said, I'm off to bed to try and remedy some of those problems.

Thanks to jet lag I've been playing a bit this morning and I love the Nepal chapter so far though I still think Drake is a twat. That, and...

Oops. Wrong place and missing spoiler tag (not much of a spoiler though).
Did you pat the cow on its head? How about its side? What about it's rear end? :) That scene where you walk through the village is great - pressing triangle triggers small bits of interaction along the way.

I mentioned this to Amy last night after the interview. Interesting story - that line was an ad-lib, as is much of the in-game dialogue. The actor for Harry Flynn came up with it while he and Nolan watched the game being played during a recording session. Some people wanted it taken out, but the level designer of that particular session pushed to keep it in. Turns out, it became one of the most memorable parts of that section.

Part of my laugh (though it was genuinely funny) came from how much that character sounds exactly, I mean exactly, like my friend Tobias in London. So much so I had to check to make sure it wasn't him. And it is precisely something he would say.

How does it have more hours? I could play Uncharted 2 MP for 200 hours as well. Every MP is the same that way. Quantity isn't quality.
On topic. I fucking love the UC2 MP. It's the first online game I don't suck at as well. I even end up in the upper regions in most matches and I'm only a level 8. FUN!
I had the exact same experience. I come from PC shooters and shooty shooty bang bang on consoles is my achilles heel. I think Uncharted 2 MP works so well because having good aiming skills is just one part of the package. The big thing is you can play it smart, smart in a way no other MP I have ever tried let's you. I basicly have more melee kills after shooting "from the hip" than using proper shooting methods.
That and pulling - pushing people from ledges never gets old.

The protests and fury you hear when you grab somebody while hanging or sneak up behind them and snap their neck is priceless. It's my favorite part of the game.

Exactly. In games like Halo, CoD, etc I usually try to play it smart, and even when a strategy seems to be working it always crashes down in the actual shootout. My aim isn't good enough for perfect headshots and end up losing even when I have the advantage just because the other ones do have that abilty.
In this game, I pretty much am top tier most of the time:P. Depends a little on the flow of the game and how much the other ones in my team suck or not of course, but it just plays a whole lot more enganging when it's tactics that play a bigger part.

Just got Platinum! Crushing was not that bad excepting the final boss which really boiled down to a matter of luck. Steel Fist Expert was the hardest; took me a good 45 minutes to get. It's a good thing you can activate weapons and still get kill credit too. Otherwise, the Gau-19 would've been a real pain in the ass.

Yeah, the whole lobby and matchmaking is probably the weakest part of the MP. The speed could use some work as well.

Yeah, it started off slow and yeah I still have an issue with the floating animations but I've actually warmed up to Drake (I just dub his dialogue in my head with Harrison Ford's voice) and holy shit this game is flat-out fun. I played some yesterday while the gf was knitting next to me and normally she'll only give a passing glance when I play but at one point I looked over at her and she was staring. When I was describing the game to her and I was excited just talking about it. I almost didn't have words to describe the absolute joy I was feeling playing through the last few levels.
