I'm fairly certain some people around here are interested in this, so I'll pass this along. As promised (then cruelly the promise was pretended to be broken), the translation patch for the PSX game Persona 2: Innocent Sin has been released. The announcement post, as well as a trailer and link to the patch, can be found here:

I actually picked up a copy of Innocent Sin a few weeks ago in anticipation of this, and the patch seems to work very nicely so far. It sounds like it even runs (with occasional crashes) on PSPs. I'll try that out myself soon.

For those who don't know: Persona 2 was actually two games. The first, Innocent Sin, was never released in the US. This was frustrating for those of us who played Eternal Punishment (the second game), since it actually took place in an alternate timeline from Innocent Sin, and so was littered with references to the other game.

This is a good year for Persons fans. We got Persona 3:FES, Persona 4 is coming in December, and now we got the one missing piece of the Persona series in English.

Oh, and to reply to my own message, there is promise that the Mother 3 translation will also be released by the end of the week. So it's a very good week for fan translations.

You know, I'm gonna have way more than enough games to play this fall.

This does NOT help! :p

I've been curious about Innocent Sin for a while now, didn't even know there was a translation being worked on. So thanks, even if I now need more hours in the day... If anyone knows how to add those, help me out OK? :D

That is pretty damn awesome. Once I actually get around to playing the Persona games I'll have to track down a copy on eBay. :)

Glad you have the cash for that...I remember looking a few months back for Persona 1&2...they are not cheap...

Nice, but I believe both Persona 2's are just like Persona 1... as in... they get boring. Persona 1 was cool but damn... 8 hours in and I quit.

Yeah, but if all you're looking for is Innocent Sin, it'll be around $50. I freak out when I see the prices for Persona 1 and 2 (US). I bought Persona 1 for $20 from EB ages ago when I was picking up early PSX RPG's I'd never played. I think I got Persona 2 brand new for $40. But as always, this is what you get with Atlus games.

I disagree. I feel like the first Persona was very clunky and not very good looking. It also has a translation famous for strange choices. Whereas Persona 2 (especially Eternal Punishment) has much better graphics, a much better battle system (sure, it defaults to auto-battle, but you no longer have to worry about whether or not your attacks are in range), a better story, and it has the cool rumor system. That's where if a rumor gets spread enough, it becomes true.

I feel Persona 1 was an okay game, but Eternal Punishment is one of the best Playstation RPGs.

Well, I have 1 and 2 (Eternal Punishment), I'd just need to get my hands on IS.
