The best browser just got better:

http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2009/09/google-chrome-30.html

Highlights include OMG FAST, HTML5 video support, and theming support.

To upgrade from an existing version.... just restart the browser.

Sweet. Now when do the addons hit the release version? :)

Is there a viable ad block for Chrome yet? I'm using SRWare Iron specifically for the adblock.

Sweet, I love Chrome and have been using it since it came out. Would love to see Google take on MS in making a PC gaming OS that would be windows compatible next.

I wonder if Chrome plays nice with Symantec yet.

A Google PC gaming OS that is Windows compatible?

You just divided by zero asshole.

I'm not sure this statement makes sense .

I like Chrome, it's fast and slick but without add-on support (supposedly coming to version 4.0) I'll keep using Firefox for now. Once 4.0 hits and some decent add-ons show up (AdBlock Plus, StumbleUpon, etc) I'll move back to Chrome.

Chrome isn't close to the best until it has Adblock Plus, Flashblock, Downthemall, NoScript, Torbutton, etc.

I'll use it more frequently once it actually catches up to Firefox in terms of usefulness.

I'd love to see Google buy Mozilla and combine the best facets of Chrome + Firefox into one uberbrowser.

Chrome is easily my favorite browser. Firefox has become so slow and unstable for some reason, even uninstalling plug-ins hasn't helped. It takes over a minute after clicking the icon for me to be able to use it and there is absolutely no reason I can think of why. Chrome on the other hand works in seconds and never crashes.

It's much more pleasing aesthetically as well.

Yeah, I've just found that... I don't really care about the add-ons.

Like... I thought I did.

But then I got to using Chrome and found I really couldn't care less.

Ads don't bother me enough to put up with a clunkier interface and a slower browser just to get rid of them. Not to mention Chrome is a hundred times more stable than Firefox has been any time, well, pretty much ever at this point.

This. I just updated my SW Iron to version 3 and it's a beast. I might make that my new browser. Right now I use it as work as something I'm "trying".

I like the idea of the SRWare Iron. I'll install it and try it out. Certainly doesn't seem to have any downsides.

Hmm. All this mention of SRWare Iron made me check it out. I'm not sure how accurate this is, but there was a handy little chart (http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron_chrome_vs_iron.php) about the differences between SRWare Iron and Chrome. Frankly I found some of the Chrome stuff...alarming. Google is gonna fuck up our shit one day.

I'm sure they aren't bias at all. :D

I tried Chrome 3.0 at work today, and honestly wasn't that impressed. Some of the refinements are nice, and initially it was lightning quick, but with only 5 tabs open, after a couple of hours it was crawling. Much slower than I remember Chrome 2.0 being on that machine. Whereas I run the latest Firefox on the same box with only a couple of extensions and it runs like a champ with 15 or 20 tabs open.

Might have been an anomaly, but it wasn't very encouraging. I'll be sticking with Firefox on that box.

Chrome is certainly the best damn Windows browser. Firefox feels like a slug in comparison. Still prefer OmniWeb on Mac though.

And no, I never want to see Google buy Mozilla. There is no reason, there's room for many browsers.

Working support, no it ain't. Shit gets annoying trying to make WebCT work on all these fucking browsers.

I so need a new job.:(

I use chrome as my alternate browser and the 3.0 update actually made it worse. If you have a lot of tabs open, it slows down as much as Firefox pre-3.5.

I also seem to have no problem with Firefox and there are some add-ons that I cannot browse without.

Also, Chrome works worse than FF on some google services. All except gmail.

Yeah, muddi, that's what I was seeing as well. Google Reader on Chrome 3.0 was performing much worse for me than it does in Firefox 3.5 after a couple of hours, as was Google Calendar. It was weird.

I need some suggestions, gurus!

Firefox works great for me on my work machine, running Windows XP.

At home, however, I opted for Vista 64-bit, and ever since Firefox 3.5 went live and I upgraded, it's been absolutely terrible.
I downloaded Chrome, which works great, but blocks some scripts for editing at Co-Optimus.

Should I revert my Firefox version, or is there a better suggestion?

I downloaded Chrome, which works great, but blocks some scripts for editing at Co-Optimus.There should be a place in the options to allow scripts to run for certain websites. I can't get to the options screen at the moment to check for sure.

I consider myself fairly savvy, and couldn't find a security settings manager, at least not one that let me pick-and-choose my script allowances. But I haven't explored everything yet.

Not having those issues with SW Iron.
