What shall we call this, Slaughter Sunday or something? People do remember the good old Mortal Mondays and Fatal Fridays when the old Mortal Kombat games used to come out, right? Anyway, Midway announced yesterday via Press Release that the well received (at E3 and other cons) Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe will be coming out on Sunday, November 16th on the 360 and PS3.
Last week they also announced the Kollector's Edition (yes, I'm as tired of the "K"s as you are probably) with cover art by Alex Ross as well as including a John Tobias, in a return to the series, sketched 16-page comic that explains the happenings that come before this game. A look at the cover art can be seen at this thread (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=922) in our forums.
Are you prepared for two worlds to collide? Find out more at http://www.worldscollide.com. It's actually a pretty well done website (be sure to turn your sound down) and they even have picture downloads of the entrants that have already been announced and some of them look pretty awesome.

Nope, still rated Teen for: "Blood, Suggestive Themes and Violence"

Luckily, none of them swear in the game. So it stays teen.

Of all the franchises to go to a T rating... I feel like I should be much more upset about this than I am. I mean, we're talking about the series that basically forced the creation of the ESRB because of the gratuitous gore and violence, and now here it is rated T. I guess "sell out" would be the term.

DC is probably the instigator of a no-M rating. Honestly, if you've seen videos of Joker's fatality (all but the DC heroes actually have fatalities) you'd see the game is still pretty violent and blood-filled. I just don't think you'll see buckets of blood during a battle.
Midway also needs a hit very badly, read my small information about MK vs. DC in the CoG Feature (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=1195) I put up today. Midway is basically putting its whole future on this game after borrowing another $40 million to bring out its fall games from the parent company (they borrowed $90 million earlier in the year).

I don't get how it works. Bones still crunch, blood still spills, people catch on fire, and the Joker point blank shoots someone in the head (the only fatality other than Scorp's that I have seen). Yet it gets a Teen rating.

Oh yeah, I know it's all DC's doing and I did see the Joker's fatality, which was pretty cool. It's just that what the series was known for (over the top fatalities) has been neutered and the series has more or less fallen apart. I understand that this is a business and the last few installments of MK have been lackluster so they had to do something different, but it just seems like time has passed MK by, it's on its way out, and this isn't the most dignified way of saying goodbye.

Yeah, and then there's that. It kind of makes you wonder about the effectiveness of the rating system altogether, but that's a different discussion entirely.

When I did the Teen thing I was looking at the WorldsCollide website. It is at the very bottom by the system placards.
