There have been intermittent scares about the damage cell phones can do due to the radiation they emit. While no conclusive research has been done, there is still concern regarding the amount of radiation certain phones give off. ZDNet blogger Jason Hiner looked into some of the studies conducted and came up with a list of both the 10 smartphones that emit the most radiation, and the 10 smartphones that emit the least radiation. Since I'm up for a phone upgrade, I found this to be interesting, and useful from a precautionary standpoint. I know several people here have the MyTouch 3G, so you might find this pertinent as well.

Holy shit! MyTouch 3G is at the top of the list. :| I suppose it is a good thing I still have my 1st gen iPhone. Looks like it's radiation is much further down the list.

Really though? What's the difference between the worst and best as far as radiation goes? Is there even a difference? The author himself states that you might not anything to be concerned about

Cellphone Radiation is nothing to be concerned about. And even if it was, would you stop using your cellphone for the what... like maybe 2 extra years you'd live if you didn't use one?

And that article shows the increase after a 15min call! Who really makes 15min calls anymore these days?

We won't know for sure until people who have been using them their whole lives hit senior and retirement ages. Then we just have to watch for signs of this:

It's a little skewed. The rating is in watts/kg... This is why the MDA is rated so low - the damn thing is heavy!

Here are a few examples actually calculated out.

MyTouch 3G: 1.55 W/Kg *0.116kg = 0.1798 watts

iphone: 1.38 W/Kg * 0.135kg = 0.1863 watts

G1: 1.11 W/kg * 0.158kg = 0.1754 watts

...when actually calculated, the iPhone emits a tiny bit more radiation.

I don't understand what it's goal is. We don't know if the radiation levels are meaningful at all, let alone whether the small differences between phones matter. The list almost seems arbitrary.

I have to use a headset most of the time, anyway. So worst I guess is I'm blasting my kidney. :o

WHOPS!

Ok, those are SAR ratings which means the MyTouch 3G's 1.55 W/Kg means that's how much radiation is absorbed into 1Kg of body. Disregard my calculations...
