It's out, it's awesome. I could ramble on for a while and do a terrible job explaining why the multiplayer is so fun, but you can find out for yourself. The developer, Certain Affinity, are awesome and such decided the best way to do a demo for their game was to give you two days of absolutely unrestricted access to the game's multiplayer. So don't take my word for it, download the demo, send me a message and let's play tonight. The game has party-based matchmaking, just like Halo or Call of Duty, so it's a piece of cake to organize and hop in a game.

You could always give a little blurb about what you do in the game so lazy people like me wouldn't have to look it up :).

I guess I should know what the game is but with so many releases I haven't been able to keep up lately.

Just played an awesome game.

An enemy went behind Cambridge (I think), trying to run away from my ship. As he's back there, one of the AI boats gets behind there too, blocking his only other way out. Sinking his ship felt so good.

Afterwards, we were attacking one of their ports and he came up to me to get his revenge, he died again.

Food, you have a ton of multiplayer wins. I need to try and catch up to you...

It's fun, if a bit simplistic. I like it.

This game is definitely fun. I'm glad I gave in to Food's repeated invites.

I picked it up but I have yet to really play a game let alone any multiplayer. That could change this week though. If you need another player toss me an invite.

I have completed all the single player challenges and quite enjoyed them despite the stupidity of the AI. I've only played a few games of multiplayer, but what I did play seemed a bit too hectic, but perhaps that is just the process of adjustment in going from single player to multiplayer.

Is it better than Catan?

I was playing through the SP challenges and quit out of frustration with the teammate AI. They're complete idiots. I'll stick to MP on this one. Which, I might add, is pure awesome.

The multiplayer is really the main mode in the game. I recommend finding a friend and hopping into the 2v2 playlist, which is much less chaotic than the 4v4 games we were playing the other day. I think once you're accustomed to the flow of the multiplayer, those big games won't seem so hectic.

I'm in the opposite boat, coming form multiplayer I find tasks to be much more difficult since the AI is vastly inferior to a good teammate.

It's true that the AI is bad, but the missions are actually pretty easy. Especially if you pay attention to what your AI teammate is doing and what the computer AI is doing and use it to your advantage. For example, if it is attacking a base that can't possibly be won, use it as the opportunity for a diversion, if it is attacking a base that can, back it up rather than doing your own thing. The good news is that the computer AI is just as stupid as your teammate. It will often focus all its efforts on maintaining one or two bases fighting amongsts itself for them leaving you to cherry pick the others. Thankfully, many of the later challenges also have you going at it alone where you don't even have to rely on AI teammates at all. It actually didn't take me very long to get through all the challenges. I might have invested 3 hours or so, total.

You are, of course, correct, that the single player is really just a glorified training mode. I'll make sure to check out the smaller game types. I've generally found it true with most multiplayer games that I enjoy smaller groups more than larger ones.

It's really nothing like Catan. I was confused on this until I played it and realized this. It has resources like Catan but plays like Command and Conquer Sole Survivor (except with defend the territory and not CTF).

If anyone is interested in playing this on Xbox Live together add me as a friend (Gamertag: Hexxagonal).
