Dammit! I guess I'd better get busy and finally kill Raam one of these days. I still haven't actually finished the final mission. :(

So do the unlockables work off game-saves, or do they look for achievements? I got a new 360 a while back and have NO Gears saves, but I got 980+ achievement points, so I'm hoping I can be spared having to rush through Gears 1 again.

Training Grounds: Speaking of Training Grounds, Gears 2 offers a training mode for players that are new to the multiplayer experience, providing an opportunity to compete against AI bots before competing with other players.
Nice. Bots were announced early, but it was not clarified if it was in the traditional sense or if it was (the later confirmed) Horde mode they were talking about. Good to see it confirmed as bots in the old fashioned way. Bots make nice target practice or a sweet way to blow off some steam when the mood dictates.

Good question. An update earlier this year deleted all my Gears 1 save files and it just so happened I was on the train to kill RAAM on Insane mode at the time it happened. Upsetting? Yes. But if it turns out to be based off of save files, I don't see how it would be hard to burn through Gears 1 on cupcake mode in a few hours. Now back to chugging through Insane mode...*sigh*

I'm sure that the unlocks are tied to the achievements as all the requirements give achievements. Plus that would allow you unlocks to follow your gamertag anywhere.

Yeah, this is correct. I remember reading an interview where Cliff says that you get certain characters unlocked if you unlocked the completing the game achievement in the first game.

TeamXbox has a 4 page multiplayer article up where they can't seem to rave enough about the Horde mode. They even believe that the horde mode alone is a reason to own the game and called Gears 2 one of the most complete shooters ever made.
Considering the awesomeness of the single player mode ..., the multiplayer modes exist almost on their own. A more complete package has probably never been put together. What else could you possibly ask for from a game? To cure cancer? Gears 2 won’t quite do that, but it will give you enough gameplay to keep you busy probably until the final game in the trilogy is released in two thousand whatever. After that, who knows? But if this doesn’t tide you over for the next year or two, then you are officially impossible to please. For the other 99.9% of us, Gears of War 2 might be the most complete shooter you’ve ever played. With this much gameplay, this many unlockables, that many characters, etc., etc., you’ll be killing locust so much you might start feeling sorry for them. Nahhh. See you online.

Thanks SPBTooL. Over the past few months, the horde mode has had me the most intrigued. This just pushed my excitement level over the edge.

Telefrog, if you want to go co-op to kill RAAM, as I still need to as well, I heard it's much easier than using the AI partner. Send me a PM here or on Live if interested...I'm gaming 24-hours this weekend, so I'll be on a bunch.

It definitely is easier with a friend.
(My boyfriend and I did it with our favorite pals, the sniper rifle and the torque bow.)

New Old Maps
Just came across an article in which comparison screen shots (http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=2325) are shown between the old multiplayer maps, and their re-done counterparts. Thought you guys would like.
