Sorry to hear that. :(
I guess I never had to deal with that sort of problem since I've always lived in or near San Francisco.

I feel your pain man, just about everything literally skips my town. They will go to Denver, they will go to Pheonix, they will go to Dallas, but somehow they skip Albuquerque right in the middle of all of that shit.

Do you think you'll be going to both the Berkeley and San Francisco sessions? Or just one? I'm still trying to decide. I'm thinking we'll all need to be on the lookout for when tickets go on sale so we can buy them immediately. I know all the Landmark theaters don't sell tickets very far in advance.

Man, I would love to go... but I fucking hate going to LA, and that's the closest showing. Also, I believe that is the same night as my office Christmas party...

Damn, no Cincinnati. Well, I got to see him here on his last book tour and, that same night, when he premiered Man with The Screaming Brain. Great stuff!

I shot this little clip in 2001 when he was in Austin, TX on his first book tour.
It is his response to the question: "What did you mean?" in regards to the line in Army of Darkness: "First you want to kill me, now you want to kiss me? Blow!"
(apologies for the poor quality and shortness...antique digital camera...well, it was new at the time!)

I don't believe that Toronto isn't on that list. I mean comon, Evil Dead the Musical? I went twice! Of course he is coming to Toronto too.

Rini,
Why the hell are we getting the tail-end of this tour?
It figures that I'd be graduating, and leaving California, on the eleventh of December. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!

I take it you've all read 'If Chins Could Kill' ? It's full of awesome.
And I wish Bruce would come back to NZ sometime :(

If Chins Could Kill IS full of awesome.
What is full of fail is that a friend of mine borrowed it, and has yet to return it... it's been like 3 years now!

Went through the same thing with Henry Rollins and his current North American tour. Sometimes being a fanboy sucks.

Hey again, everyone. Just updating you all to let you know the Landmark Theatres website has been updated, and it appears that (at least for San Francisco), tickets have just been released for the My Name is Bruce shows.
Hurry up and get your tickets before they sell out! Good luck!
Holy crap, the Ohio date is just down the street from my office. I love you Dangerchan.

Okay, so I saw this last night and it was a lot of fun. It is by no means a good movie, but it's sure a hell of a lot better than almost every movie he's done since Bubba Ho-Tep. (Yes, I realize that's damning it with faint praise.) It's pretty tongue-in-cheek, almost a meta-movie, and it's definitely a present for the fans; I honestly doubt it would be entertaining to anybody who isn't already familiar with his oeuvre.
The movie has many laughs in places, but also more than a few dead spots. The monster isn't really scary, on par with a typical sci-fi channel threat, though the movie is more entertaining than those pieces of crap. There are a couple good dismemberments and decapitations, but otherwise not much in the way of gore.
By far the best part was afterward, where Bruce came out for a Q&A session with the audience. He talked for at least 20 minutes and was constantly entertaining, funny, and insightful. If you can attend one of the shows where he appears, don't hesitate to go! By far the funniest part was when some girl sitting in front of me asked, "Has there ever been a project that you turned down?" (Answer: yes.) He talked about why there won't be another Evil Dead ("seriously, didn't you all see Indy 4?"), his plots to destroy Sam Raimi's car, the preferred kind of whiskey to drink out of a dog's bowl, and much more.
I can't recommend the movie for everyone, but if you're the sort of person reading a thread about it on the Internet you'll probably get a big kick out of My Name Is Bruce.

What do you think he'd say if my Q&A question was, "May I please kiss your chin?"

One woman gave him a huge compliment, and he wound up passing five dollars back to give to her. Ha. Go for it and report back!

God, he must be so awesome to see in person. That's hilarious. If I'm feeling brave enough that day, I'll do it. If he says no, I'll be extremely disappointed, but at least I'll have tried!
I'm actually tempted to go to both showings in San Francisco so that I can tell him I did before I ask "the question." Maybe he'll be more likely to say yes. (Oh, wishful thinking!)

Do it. At worst (best?) he'll give a snarky response and put you down. The man has the most entertaining Q&As, maybe second to Kevin Smith.

Anyone seen the show yet? Some friends and I are headed down for the early Sunday showing in Portland.
This'll be the third time I've gone to his movie screenings. I saw both Bubba-Hotep and Man With the Screaming Brain over at the Hollywood theatre when he was in town before. Also got an autographed copy of "Make Love*" for my wife. Great shows, great times.

Saw it last night! Bruce was absolutely hilarious during the Q&A session (and in the movie).
When asked if he actually wears Old Spice, he responded, "I wore it when shooting the commercial." Then he made some snarky comments about Will Ferrell taking his job as the Old Spice representative.
"You know, Will Ferrell smells like cheese. I met him once."
He also discussed "slipping it to" his wife (and pointed her out in the audience). He was a total riot.

Back in high school I found out about Bubba Ho-Tep because a new Film/English teacher had the poster on his classroom wall for ages before the film came out. When it released? I loved it, he didn't care for it at all.
He did the same thing with The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, except he never even actually went to see that movie. That's one of my very favorites. This makes him a criminal.

The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra is great! How can someone NOT like that one? Seriously?
