Eli Stone (http://abc.go.com/primetime/elistone/index?pn=index)

Where: ABC
When: Tuesday 10/9c

SE02 EP01: The Path
When a crane crashes trapping Jordan, it's surprisingly Eli's brother, Nate, who has a vision -- and a brain aneurysm to go with it.

For those that didn't follow this series last season, Eli Stone is an ambitious lawyer who built a career by representing large corporations and walking all over the little guy. After experiencing several visions, mostly visions of George Michael singing some of his older tunes, Eli started to use the visions as guidance and turned his back on his corporate clients and his colleagues at the prestigious law firm where he is employed. It turns out the visions were the result of a brain aneurysm and we left Eli last season as he had just come out of surgery to have the aneurysm removed.

Due to scheduling conflicts, I don't think there will be as much George Michael this season and I really think that those visions (and his guest appearance) was a big part of the charm of the show. I hope they found a way to work it out so we still get some George Michael love in there. For better or worse, we are going to get appearances by guests like Katie Holmes (http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b33356_video_sneak_peek_katie_holmes_steams_up.htm l). (I will just link to the video instead of embedding one because I fear I may scare some of you away)

I guess the best way to describe Eli Stone is sort of a musical male version of Ally McBeal. Last season Eli Stone benefited from a strong cast and great writing. I hope this season lives up to last season and the linked video is not an indication of things going 'cheap'.

I really enjoyed the first season. Hopefully this one is fun too...

Loved last season, hope for more of the same.

I hate this show.

What threw me off the most was the episode where they were like "Well maybe your vaccines don't cause autism, but gosh darnit this kid is sick and you're EVIL because you have MONEY".

I find the way the court cases go to be consistently condescending to those who don't hold the same values as the writers.

I bet you hate puppies and unicorns too. :p

If you look at how aggressive Eli Stone was when defending the 'evil' corporations the 'sappy' little guy cases tend to balance it out. At least that is what I thought the writers were going for. A little over the top on both counts.

Yeah, it can be over the top, but I like the general feel of the show. I was actually surprised that I liked the show, considering I'm not a big fan of whatever-his-name-is that plays Eli. :)

Weaver as god was an interesting choice. Good ep.

I watched it for a few episodes last season (because it came on right after Lost and I was too lazy to change the channel). Seemed like an interesting concept, but it never really grabbed me. Didn't even realize it'd been renewed.

SE2 EP02: Grace
Eli discovers that his latest vision -- a gorgeous, confident, brunette singing to him -- is real after he meets her at a baseball game.

I am sure that there are many things that Katie Holmes is talented at, by the looks of the preview, singing is not one of them.

If you wanted to get me to watch, you could have just skipped your giant summary and mentioned that Eli is Jonny Lee Miller (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001538/) of Hackers fame. ;)

I agree with that, but I hate it way more due to the kick in the face of atheism in the first episode. Eli tells the guy, "But I don't believe in God," and he says, "Sure you do! See that sunset? God did it!" Then the camera shows us the sun and plays us out to commercial to George Michael's "I Gotta Have Faith." Eli is instantly converted, because if God didn't make the sunset so beautiful, who did?

Even after that, I almost finished the episode. I like to give everything a full episode as its fair chance. But that, combined with the incredible irresponsibility of suggesting that vaccinating your kids will make them autistic made this show one I'll never see again.

Normally, I don't mind it if shows are on that I don't like. I just don't watch them. However, I hope this one gets canceled, just to free Victor Garber up to do something else. How awesome was Justice?

Woah, woah. John Lee Miller? Zero Cool?! Man I need to find a way to watch this show now.

They really take issues that have two sides and talk down to one side like they're children.

Yep!

Where's your faith now, Eli?

They say bad things happen in threes, and rounding out the trifecta of ABC's cancellations yesterday was Eli Stone. According to The Los Angeles Times, producers gathered cast and crew members and gave them the bad news yesterday.

Eli Stone was once considered a bubble show, but after a strong showing last year hope was high for the drama. Unfortunately, things just didn't work out for the program in season two, and ABC decided to yank it from its schedule. As was the case with ABC's other cancellations, the writers' strike has been deemed the main culprit of Eli's sluggish performance.

Jonny Lee Miller starred as the titular lawyer who has a change of tune after experiencing prophetic visions. Not knowing whether his visions are the result of a higher power or a brain aneurysm, Eli begins to approach each of his cases differently.

ABC will continue to air all 13 episodes of this season of Eli Stone, which is on Tuesday nights. The network also canceled Pushing Daisies

What will I watch now ABC? Bastards!

Well it seems like some shows might be able to close out the series in a better then normal way, although Pushing Daisies might not be able to.

Pushing Daisies ends on a cliffhanger that will be resolved through comics.

True... too bad for those that don't read comics... I'm fucking pissed about Pushing Daisies, though. I really like that show.
