Ok, so this isn't a thread about how awesome Netflix is (which is really is!) but about great customer service. I received this in my email this morning:
Last night, you may have had trouble instantly watching movies or TV episodes via your Xbox due to technical issues.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. If you were unable to instantly watch a movie or TV episode last night via your Xbox, click on this account specific link in the next 7 days to apply your 2% credit on your next billing statement. Credit can only be applied once.
2% won't break the bank but it's a very cool gesture. :D

My only contact from Netflix today was my monthly bill. :(

Well, when you are suave and of the nutty variety you tend to get a few more perks. It must be the top hat.

I ran into issues trying to watch Lost with the missus. It resolved itself in less than 10 minutes. This was a super nice gesture of them.

I wonder if they'll fix the stream for the Christmas episode in 30 Rock, Season 2. All the sound is there except voice, which kind of makes things difficult. Of course, there was absolutely NO sound when I tried watching the final ep of the season last night.

I actually made a humorous post (http://www.bluegamer.net/2009/09/01/netflix-knows/)about it on my blog last night. The wording of it was just a little weird, yet, like you mention, great customer service.

I got the same email but offering 3%. I was rather impressed because I hadn't really worried about it but there they were offering me this deal when they could of just ignored it like MS usually does when Live goes down. I'm glad I kept Netflix. It's saved me money on cable bills and is just a great service.

For those that got 3% - what rate plan are you on? Might explain why.

I'd just switched to the 2 disc out versus the 3 disc. Or maybe my trying to watch Leverage wasn't as big a money maker as those watching Lost or 30 Rock. :D

Do you all get taxed for the service? I get taxed by both Netflix and Gamefly which seems odd to me. I've always assumed it was an Illinois thing (damn this crooked state) but maybe The Feds are the ones collecting the booty.

I'm just a lowly single-disc subscriber.

A few weeks ago I went from 3 disks unlimited streaming to 1 disk unlimited streaming. I still got 3%. I've had this account for a few years. I used to share an account with my roommate but when we parted ways for a year I got my own.

I got the 3% and I'm on the 1-disk, unlimited streaming plan.
I do get taxed, and I live in Virginia.
This is nice, but my streaming was down to 1 or 2 bars for about a month. I kept hoping it would resolve itself, because I checked everything on my end. And it did! Go 360 netflix update, now everything is top quality all the time.
I'm currently on the free trial and I received an extension for one extra day. Pretty decent of them to do this. I wish more companies would compensate their subscribers when things go kaput. Looking at this situation, the service didn't even go down, it was just one of the ways to access the service that was causing problems. Hats off to Netflix for such an awesome gesture.
I got the 3% as well (1 disc), however I didn't try to stream any movies during the period they mentioned, and since they are being such stand-up guys I decided to not click the link.

Even though I'm not a penguin it's nice to know I qualified for at least the bad ass discount.

I'm betting it's an Illinois thing...I got taxed on my monthly WoW subscription whilest friends in other (less hive of scum and villianyish) states did not.

I don't get taxed on my Netflix bill.
However, I only have the 1 disc plan, and got 3%. Damn nice of Netflix, though. I remember about a year ago they have some delivery problems, and did something similar.

I've had no problem with that episode. 30 Rock is my favorite show, and I've seen that episode on netFlix with sound.

I only got offered 1%, but I'm on four discs + blu-ray. I didn't take it, though, since I dind't experience any problems so it didn't seem right to collect.
I've been a netflix member for a whopping 9 years now, and the very few times I've had to use customer support (such as for a missing or broken disc) they've been instantly helpful with replacements and never charged me any extra.

3% discount offered. I didn't take it, and probably won't. At the time of the outage I was not watching anything on my 360.

Looks like they decided to set the credit to be roughly 30 cents, plus or minus a few cents, and the different discounts are designed to get you close to that based on your plan.
I was offered the 2% and gladly took it. I didn't have any problems on the night in question, but I did have problems with it immediately after the update.
