View Full Version : Xbox Live and my CC

I'm not sure what to think. I notified Microsoft about 11 months ago to remove a CC from my Xbox Live account. It was the only CC I had attached to the account. The card was expired and they some how managed to charge it which pissed me off at the time since I had received a few emails stating they could not charge the card.

I know my Live account is going to expire again so I logged on Live to see exactly when. Not only is the old CC still showing on the account (it is listed as removed however the CC# is still there) but my debit card is now listed. I swear, I do not remember, ever, under any circumstances, using my debit card on Live. It may be tied in to my old Windows Passport log-in because I used it to pay some bills online but I have never used it for Xbox Live. Not to purchase anything or pay for Live service. Why the hell would I after trying to have my other CC removed?

I'm really confused and concerned as to how my debit card is now connected to my Xbox Live account. I am going to call them tomorrow and ask that they remove any and all CC/Debit cards from that account. If I find out they took the debit card from the Microsoft Passport account I will have it removed from there too and start mailing bills like I used to. I am hoping I was in some sort of delusional state and added my debit card number but no reason I would have in the past year. As far as I know, it was not there when I called to have the other card removed. At least it didn't show up on the billing information page.

Has anyone else had something like this happen? I'm really confused as to how the debit card is now on the account.

You're still having this issue? Wow, that really sucks. Sad to see that this still hasn't been resolved. There's no reason that they need to keep your credit card information even after you take it off of the account.

They're pretty lame about the CC billing. I had to call and bitch and bitch before they removed mine. Now I just buy Live cards.

Edit: omg..."just by Live cards." I'm a moron. And it's quoted for perpetuity.

Yeah, I only use Live and PSN pre-paid cards now.

Pre-paid cards is my plan once I get the friggin credit/debit cards out of their system. I'm trying to remain calm until I talk to someone tomorrow. I don't want to be an ass right at the beginning of the conversation with them.

Call your bank or Credit Card company and notify them of this so that they can make sure that no charges go through. I had a similar problem with live. Fortunately my cancelling it coincided with me also cancelling my bank account.

This.
However, this may not/won't work. Having done this myself with many different other companies including MS. Basically you would have to call EVERY single time. At least with the 2-3 visa's I did this on. AMEX is the only card I have found where this worked right but they always seem to treat me good.
The best bet would be...explain it to your bank and maybe you can open another account for free.
My girlfriend did that.

I changed the expiration date on my card on there website and they always fail in trying to recharge it. I then used a 13 month card so now they don't even bother to try. This is one area MS sucks over , you should be able to remove your credit card info with no problem at all on your own.

My live is going to run out on Oct 24 and I used a pre-paid card to activate the gold account. Though my cc is on my profile for age verification and ms points purchase. I hope it doesn't automatically renew - although the expiry date on the card has passed and I haven't updated it.

When you call make sure you do it between 9am-5pm to get an english speaking person and not redirected to bangledish or something.
