...but it will be coming "soon."
Microsoft Confirms Feature Cut from New Xbox 360 Dashboard (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/55293) (Shacknews)
Following up on reports that the new Xbox 360 dashboard will no longer feature photo and movie sharing, Microsoft has confirmed with Shacknews that the software update will launch without the ability to share movies with other Xbox Live members.
However, the update will still feature online Photo Sharing functionality when it arrives as a free software download on November 19. The company explained that comments from Xbox senior strategist Rob Gruhl regarding the addition of Photo Sharing were hypothetical, meant to stress that the software is dynamic and can be easily updated.
The official Microsoft announcement of the new dashboard, commonly referred to as the New Xbox Experience, promised that a group of up to eight online friends could "watch a Netflix movie together, or share a slideshow of your personal photos."
Microsoft's statement regarding Photo and Movie Sharing follows:
Photo Sharing is going to be available at launch.
With regards to movies, the New Xbox Experience is a long term initiative, what we are rolling out in November is only the beginning! With the New Xbox Experience we will have the flexibility to roll out features and updates dynamically, unlike in the past where we were on a more biannual schedule. So, there are a lot more exciting features, including Movie Sharing that will be coming soon.

The whole movie sharing feature didn't sound too impressive to me anyway. As far as I understood it, everyone involved needed to be able to access Netflix from their 360 anyway, so why bother? It frankly sounds like more of a hassle than a fun time.

When will NetFlix be available period. I mean watching movies with other people really doesn't get me going.

Exactly. Unless it's snakes on a plane. That movie needs a group. Alone, it's just sad.
Maybe they should market it as the MST 3000 feature. Sounds better that way.

I never really saw the appeal of this to begin with. I think my wife would smack me good and hard if I said I'd rather watch a movie online with someone and not with her. :p

Honestly, I'd rather not watch this with someone else through my Xbox. I have a hard enough time watching with other people in the room who feel like talking...give that person a mic and the inability for me to hit them to shut them up and I think it would just be awful.

I like the idea of watching a movie with friends. Bad movies.

I sincerely doubt that Microsoft has or has plans to support the kind of infastructure in their servers to share full length video. You are talking a back end as big as what Amazon has or Apple.

What are you talking about?
The plan for the Netflix sharing was up to 8 people streaming a video from Netflix that is timesynched with each other while still having voice support.
I wanted this as it would have let me watch shitty movies with friends who are no longer near.

Yeah, I always thought it sort of lost it's appeal when I found out everyone had to have an Netflix subscription.
Also, the MST3K thing - I know I heard it suggested multiple times to them at E3. I hope they do it!

It was funny to me when they made the first (vague) announcement about the feature at E3. Everyone was so excited to share movies with their friends that didn't have NetFlix accounts. I thought, "Why would NetFlix ever allow that?" It made no sense to me and I suspected that everyone would need their own NetFlix account which turned out to be true.
Really, I just want to watch my NetFlix queue on my 360 without going through some jackass thrid party site or crazy software hoops. November 19th can't get here soon enough.

Actually a lot now that Starz is on there as well. Also, I watch a lot of documentaries and bad horror movies. :D
