If the recently released demo of Section 8 (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=11392&highlight=section+demo&page=2) has whet your appetite for destruction, be prepared for more.

According to the folks at Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com), TimeGate has announced the release dates for Section 8 - September 4th for North America, following a week later for UK / Asia / Pacific, with the rest of Europe following two weeks later on September 18th.

In addition, they've added some details for supporting your inner rotisserie-geek with a battery of following stats, hinted at with their Stats Portal (http://www.joinsection8.com/stats/). The icing on the cake? Clan Support. That's right, kids. They plan on supporting clans by giving them tags, an internal structure of hierarchies with a system for accepting new recruits. You can also filter leaderboards to find out how you stand among your clanmates for bragging rights and hazing order.

The 4th is just around the corner, so expect to hear more soon!

Sep 4th? A Friday release date? I heard some Gamestops were selling this right now. Damn that stat page looks encompassing.

My online order says the 1st...oh well, it'll get here when it gets here I guess.

In the closed beta, I attended a couple of the dev chat nights...these guys are basically all hardcore BF2, Tribes, and/or Halo players.

I think the lead designer even said he played Tribes competitively at one point and was saying they really wanted to support stats, clans, and tournament play as much as possible. I guess they are making good on that promise.

Anyone picking this up for 360? With all the things you can customize, this could be the next Chromehounds, but without the mechs.

Heretic! Chromehounds without the mechs? You might as well eat a cheeseburger without the cheese or burger! ;)

I played the demo on Section 8 and was sort of "meh". Looks cool, though.

Now if it had giant robots! :D

I liked the idea of it, but the actual gameplay turned me off a bit. I've set aside cash for my big three this year, and I'm trying not to spend any extra money, but if everyone is playing this, and I can find it dirt cheap? Perhaps...but I still need to get Batman. *sigh*

A buddy of mine actually made the comparison to Chromehounds with the amount of customization there seemed to be from the demo. This one could be interesting. :)

I remember watching a video for this and not being impressed. But after reading up a bit just now, it sounds interesting. Will try the demo.

I really enjoyed the PC beta. I am seriously considering buying this.
