With all of the craziness about how texting while driving kills millions every year, I was reminded how dangerous it is to drive.

Even if you turn off the radio, don't use windshield wipers, don't adjust the thermostat settings, don't change the CD (or 8-track for you old timers), don’t skip past another crappy Kelly Clarkson song on your iPod, don't adjust your seat, don't adjust your rear view mirror, don't talk on your phone, don't talk to your passengers, don't answer your toddler's cries from the backseat, don't threaten to "turn this car around" or be made to "come back there", don't try to adjust a wedgie, don't pass gas and wave it over in your friend's face, don't get up to, or receive, the Devil's Business, don't laugh at the hilarious joke your friend just told about the Jell-O, the midget Chinese tranny hooker and the cookie jar, don't ignore your wife, don't not ignore your wife, don't roll your eyes because your husband said yet another stupid thing, don’t eat/drink/smoke, don’t give the International Peace Symbol to that jerk who just cut you off, don’t look at the hottie in spandex running down the sidewalk, don’t adjust your man parts, bra or other naughty bits, don’t roll your windows up, down or just a crack, don’t sing, hum or noiselessly mouth the lyrics to that crappy Kelly Clarkson song that your forgot to skip on your iPod but you’ve discovered it’s kinda catchy, don’t yell and flip off your radio because you just heard a liberal/conservative show host say something completely moronic, don’t put on your makeup, don’t read the latest marketing report your forgot to read last night at home, don’t turn on your defroster, don’t wipe the condensation off the inside of your windshield with an old McDonald’s napkin you found under the seat because you didn’t turn on the defroster, don’t look back at the street you just passed because you couldn’t see the street sign to make the turn your lousy MapQuest directions just said you should have made, and, for the love of all that is holy and good, don’t think about, read or create a text message. Even if you don’t do all of these and the myriad of other things you shouldn’t be doing in your car; even if you are staring directly ahead with your hands at 10 and 2 and only looking in your mirrors every 10 seconds; even if you just read your state’s driving handbook that very morning and are following it to the letter, you are still going to die in a horrible car wreck. Why? Because your body is involuntarily distracting you by blinking.

Blinking as now been found to cause more accidents than texting. In a mere fifteen-minute car ride you will blink so much that your eyes are closed for approximately 10 full seconds. Think about that for a moment. Imagine driving through busy downtown traffic with your eyes closed for 10 seconds and you’ll realize how dangerous blinking while driving is.

Contact your local Congressman and/or Senator. Let them know that you support Anti-Blinking legislation. Tell them that our children cannot continue to die on our highways and byways because the politicians were too slow to act on this issue.

If you aren’t driving like this:

Then you aren’t driving safely and you will kill someone because you blinked. It’s only a matter of time!

Oh wow, THERE'S a shocker. Who would have thought that DRIVING AROUND PERIODICALLY CLOSING YOUR EYES could cause accidents? ( :but does not blink them: ) I'm glad we have our scientists out there doing this hard hitting research.
