Obviously the campus bookstore is immensly overpriced, and I wanted to know if anyone has shopped at an online (trustworthy) book store. Amazon was the first place I went, but unfortunately they're out of stock on one of my books, so I'm looking elsewhere.

Half.com
B&N 40% off text books
Textbooks.com
cheapesttextbooks.com
campusbooks.com

Hope this helps. I'm going to be doing the buying of books soon too.

I didn't want to use Half.com since it ships through someone else, and at first B&N was still kind of high, but then I saw that everyone got member prices on new textbooks. Saved me right at $100 versus buying at the campus store, awesome.

I hadn't thought to look at half.com - You just saved me $80.

EDIT: If you knew a cheap place to get a TI-89, that'd be even better :p

I can't take the credit. ADDGirl threw me the sites when I asked her. She usually is buying our texts and knows where to save a buck. I'll pass it along that it worked out.

@HM: ADDGirl thought she had one. We were going to send you one. Hers is a TI-83 though. We'll keep looking :)

I think they only do rental, but have you checked out Chegg.com? (http://www.chegg.com/)

That would have been awesome of you :) Got a TI-83 myself, unfortunately. Cheapest I can find a new TI-89 is on Amazon, for about $140. Used ones seem to go around $100. Probably not going to find them cheaper than that, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Thanks again for the help!

I got mine new in store 2 years ago for $150. It seems like they should have gone done at least a little bit since then. Either way, once you learn to use it, the 83/84s just feel clunky.

(I can't believe I am discussing calculators on the internet :o )

Another thanks for pointing towards Half.com.

You think that is bad? I'm reading Wikipedia articles about various TI calculators right now :D

In my freshman year of high school, I programmed a .hack// text based game on a TI-83+ calculator. It was pretty badass, if I don't say so myself.

One point in my high school days, I was carrying a TI-83, TI-85, and a TI-86 for different classes... I put games on each and every one of them :)

I have to carry a TI-84 and my 89 because they don't allow me to use the 89 (because of the equations solver) on somethings. I still get to use it in Physics and I have a Physics formula app on it that I can just plug in known variable to any equation and it tells me the unknown. As I said, I love my 89. ;)

College freshman here. I had to buy a $300 calculus book. I felt like part of my soul died.

Also, the TI-89 is the best calculator ever. EVER.

And when you go to trade it in and they end up giving you maybe $80, the rest of your soul will be crushed. Cause you'll take it. :(

At Eastern Michigan, Barnes and Noble ran our campus book store...so I don't know how I would have gotten a better price there.
Also, we had 2-3 off campus places that stocked more used items and one off hand books profs would make you buy. I hated one of them because they'd pack you in like sausages, make you stand in line for hours on end and then kick you out the door while giving you the finger...but everyone wanted to help them because they were the little guy.
I just wanted the place to burn to the ground.

They run my bookstore too, but the prices are far more expensive.

Sigh.
Never order from The Book Pros.

The page I ordered from said ships in 1-2 business days, probably takes 4 to arrive.
Now that I've placed the order and can't cancel it, they're saying it may take up to 21 days.

I'm seeing September 8th and September 21st as possible delivery days.
They have not given me any idea as to if my books have been shipped. Not even a confirmation e-mail.

So, I may go three more weeks without a book.
That's 1/3 of the semester.

When I took the FE Exam (Fundamentals of Engineering) they had a list of about 3-4 acceptable calculator series... all of them were scientific with no graphing function, on the plus side they were all under $20.

I ordered my book from Chegg.com Monday morning. It arrived today at 3pm. Of course, that is because it shipped here in Kentucky, but still, I was pretty happy. Not only did I save more than half the cost of the book, it also got here amazingly fast.

I'd like to say that I'd be using them from now on, but since this is my last class, I won't get the opportunity.

As a fellow Kentuckian, you've caused interest.

Wow, Chegg is awesome. Cheaper than Amazon too. Nice.
