I couldn't find much on details, save for this piece (http://ds.ign.com/articles/101/1017970p1.html) from IGN's coverage of the Level-5 Vision 2009 event:

Titled Fantasy Life, this "slow life RPG" has players create an avatar, select a job, and take on daily quests. The game offers 20 job types, each with its own vocal end theme song. You'll probably want to hear these songs, as they were composed by Final Fantasy maestro Nobuo Uematsu.

Fantasy Life takes a unique approach to online play. The game's world is split into two parts: Tripochi and Minnade. The Tripochi world is your own. You can connect to local players and invite them over to explore with you. Minnade goes beyond local boundaries. Players connect to this world via Wi-Fi. Level-5's press materials note that this means it's possible to meet strangers.

At this point, it's a bit unclear what exactly you go about doing in these two worlds when connected with other players. But a bit of vagueness is to be expected. Fantasy Life is not due for Japanese release until 2010.

I just stumbled on a random blog that talked about this, and was going to mention it here. It seems I've been beaten to the punch! :)

Looks interesting. Here's the blog entry I found (GameRiot) (http://hellforge.gameriot.com/blogs/Hellforge/First-Fantasy-Life-Announced-A-Non-Violent-RPG-With-Multiple-Endings).

The game is under development by Mother 3 creators, Brownie Brown; and its soundtrack is being composed by none other than Square Enix alumnus Nobuo Uematsu, who’s providing the game with 21 songs.

First Fantasy Life is described as a game made up of many individual vignettes or storylines, all of which contribute to the final ending of the game. Each individual ending is also said to feature an original song by Uematsu.

Level-5 has won me over with the Layton games, and this has a very similar look. It sounds like it fits into the Animal Crossing/Harvest Moon genre, and that's fine by me. Looking forward to it.

Fantasy Life (most wanted #9)

Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino says development is progressing with the aim of offering robust "avatar making" and "life" systems. For the game's notable points, he says that this is an all original Level-5 RPG themed around "slow life" and brought to us through a collaboration between composer Nobuo Uematsu and Mother 3 developer Brownie Brown.
