Official Guiness Record Attempt for most people simultaneously playing Nintendo DS's.

The current record stands at 381- I think it's going to be shattered :D

That doesn't conflict with the last panel I want to go to (Why Winning Sucks w/ Jason Booth (Senior Technical Designer, BioWare))....if everyone wants to do this before going to Shorty's Friday night I'm in.

I'm down, I'll have my DS with me the entire time at PAX ready for random match ups.

We break that record everytime there is a line for a panel or concert. An organized attempt should be a cake walk. Take that you 4th graders who currently hold the record!

The wait line to get in last year easily had 300 in it.

You'll buy a DS before PAX or at PAX and you'll like it.

Nope. Kids are BEGGING for a DS, so they'll just end up stealing it.

Or we could be awesome and use that time to get some food / beer. Because we're just cool cats like that.

I am sure we will have enough chargers for you to use. If not, you could always pretend to play it. :p

8:30? That's an hour before the ListenUP LIVE panel. I think I'm going to be standing in line at that point.

How'd this thing get organized anyway? We need to get a PSP record attempt going!

Doors open at 10, I don't see how you're going to skip the line you should be in to stand in line for a panel that's not happening yet. You'll get two lines instead.

A PSP world record attempt? At PAX? Have you even been to PAX?

The record attempt is at 8:30PM. The panel I want to attend is at 9:30PM. Basic rule of thumb is to be in line for panels an hour ahead of time.

And yes, I went to PAX in 06. PSPs were far out-numbered by DS's. Just because it doesn't have pictochat doesn't mean shit to me. Its always going to be #1 in my book and I know there will be other PSP users there. I'm sayin' we unite and celebrate our love. I also figure our competition (if it exists) is what? A crowded bus in Tokyo? I know Monster Hunter is big there and all, but of 75,000 PAXers, there's gotta be enough PSPs to beat that.

mightbe

The PSPs would run out of battery life before they could hit the record.

In all seriousness, there's just a distinct lack of good pickup and play titles for the PSP.

Add in the fact that Download and Play allows one cart to host a crowd and you've got a recipe for PAX success.

Metroid Prime Pinball for life!

Is that picture in your avatar actually you? I'd just like to know ahead of time so when I see you, I'll immediately know that you're not worth talking to. :)

Also, some PSP games let you share the same way some DS games do. Powerstone lets 4 people play off 1 UMD, for example. But, I'm starting to feel like a black man at a republican benefit here, so I'm going to take my PSP and go elsewhere.

I didn't even know Powerstone was on PSP. You learn something new every day.

And I'm guessing if I didn't know it exists and that it supports four player dl/play, that very few people do.

I don't have a DS but I've got a 1st gen PSP with quite a lot of dust on it. Hmm... I suppose I could bring it 'just in case'. I've also got a Nomad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Nomad) but if I whip that out I'll probably have to beat some fuckers down.

Also, Uno Ill Nino, WTF you thinkin'?!

That wasn't really a bad system. I mean I really dug the hell out of some California Games, or at least the BMX portion of it; but I remember it eating the hell out of some batteries. Right? I never had one. I had a big fat first-gen Gameboy, but a friend of mine had a Lynx and that thing was really cool. (Or at least the BMX portion of California Games was anyway.) Now that I'm thinking about it, I remember the hacky sack portion of it being pretty fun too because you could kick the hacky sack up and hit birds with it.

Ha!

Todd's Adventures in Slimeworld and Xenophobe was pretty fun, too - especially if you could link up multiple units. It was just the thing for camping out for registration / concert tickets. :D

Someone missed the smiley of sarcasm...

Anyways, here's the official thread (http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?t=87419) of information. Looks to be easily achievable, though always having extra people wouldn't hurt, if only to pad the number to make sure the record can remain.

Whoa. Everybody be cool. I realize I'm somewhat new here compared to the rest of you, but I can't give the guy a hard time without everybody thinking I'm a big asshole? I thought you all had thicker skin than that. I guess maybe I'm just used to my circle of friends where calling eachother "douche" and "fucknose" is just part of being a guy.

And Mightbe, you need to relax, man. We got no problem here. I realize "this is the internet" and you can just believe everything to be completely literal all the time, but did you really think I was going to avoid seeing you at PAX because you didn't know Powerstone was on the PSP? Seriously, who the fuck do you people think I am? Now we really DO need to meet so that in the future, we can say shit like that to eachother and not have everyone get a wild hair up their ass about it.

All in good fun, people. I come in peace!

I guess sometimes its easy to work under the assumption that people have listened to my show and know a little something about my personality. Not that I think I'm some star of the internets or anything, but I like to think the IGC people would have been able to distinguish that I wasn't trying to be a prick, and I kind of see the COG network as an extension of the people at IGC. So therefore, if they know me, the rest of you know me too. But we all know that's not really how it works.

Anyway, I'm glad you and I have reached a point in our relationship where we can call eachother "douchebag" now. :) Fist pound?
