Hey all, I wanted to let you know about my girlfriend's new Etsy shop:

Honey Roasted Designs - Whimsical clothing for ladies and babies (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7061076)

Her line features original designs hand-pressed onto high-quality cotton garments, and she's got some really great stuff posted so far (as well as lots more on the way)!

Give it a look when you've got some time -- even if you're not a lady, nor a baby, her stuff makes for great gifts :)

Thanks, guys! Mrs. Bingley really appreciates the feedback :)

The designs really look great in person, too. Very crisp and vibrant, and the transfer material has a really soft feel to it. All the clothing she works with is really nicely made as well. The baby clothes are especially impressive -- I don't even have clothes as nicely made as those lil tiny t-shirts :p

The baby stuff seriously makes the best presents ever if you know anyone with a new hatchling.

The cupcake pinup is badass. Interesting stuff!

Yeah, I love that one. She has a bunch of other variations of it in the works as well that are really cool, so I'll be sure to let you know when those are up on her store.

I'm also a big fan of the pomegranate sleepwear she has there. That one's just .... :p

Yeah sure I'm biased, but I'm just really proud of her for all the work she's put into this. It's really impressive to watch her cook these crazy designs up out of nowhere.

Thanks again for having a look :D

Late(ish) to the party, but I really dig her style. Very clean and simple but quite unique. I've forwarded this all to my female friends. Tell her to keep up the great work.

That's awesome! Thanks so much, Blue :D

Mrs. B wants all of you to know she's really grateful for the kind words and encouragement. She's going to figure out how to do a special 'coupon code' dealie for all the CoGgies -- I'll be sure to let everyone know when that's ready :)

Those are great.

I've got a little girl due soon, so I may splurge out on some of the kid-sized T's in time for Summer.

Is that your girlfriend posing in the pictures?

And does she have any of those kinds in blankets?

Edit: Dang, those some tasteful simple stuff. Telling my sisters about this right now.

YAY! You're awesome, TK, thanks so much!! She saw your order last night and is all kinds of excited -- you should be getting your package really soon. Can't wait to hear what you think :)

Yes, that's her. And it just so happens that she's working on some blanket designs for fall/winter, so stay tuned (I'll try to remember to PM you when they're ready).

They should be really nice -- they're a sort of cottony fleece that's really warm, yet somehow very lightweight at the same time. Lots of great colours too, and sizes for both babies and adults.. Perfect for getting cozy when it's chilly out :)

She says if you want to get in touch with more specifics re: design, colour, and size, she'd be happy to make a custom order for you as well.

And thanks for passing on the link to your sisters!

Yay!

I'm a sucker for simple tasteful blankets because too many blankets out there in stores are too generics. Drives me insane. I have currently a big patch-work blanket from a craft fair that looks like country blankets that you would find in an old ranch (very soft!) and my sister made me a country fleece blanket that knots all around the edges (forgot the name for it, quite popular home-made blanket everywhere), and a very heavy yet extremely soft woven blanket that just weights it's warmth on you yet stays oddly medium thin.

I'm curious since I don't know if your girlfriend will read this or not but I'll type it anyways:

How durable is the designs on it? Will it be big enough for two adult to snuggle into and be warm together on the couch? I have tons of design ideas such as on one side is a girl looking down the hole to a boy that when you flip the blanket over, the boy is also looking down the hole to the girl. Or having some sort of nature on the blanket that reminds the blanket owner of warm weather which can help the person psychologically feel warmer by just remembering that particular image in their life during warm times, yet still can do the opposite during spring/summer times, feel it be kind of breezy image yet it's still the same image if you know what I mean?

Will she also make subtle funny images or images that will make a person think? I wouldn't mind wearing shirts with that, such as an insane squirrel sitting at the bottom of my shirt, a little to the side (a la Ice Age squirrel). Or a slightly geeky shirt that shows nicely designed spots of colors but only to those that really knows will recognize the atoms (H20 or etc).

I better stop now before my brain gets overridden with many more ideas. :p

LOL! Enthusiasm is always a good thing :)

BUT -- I should clarify what I meant by 'custom' design. I didn't mean to imply she'd take your ideas and create new graphics from them, as that's just a whole level of work that I don't think she's keen to take on at the moment (although those are some cool ideas!).

She's quite meticulous, so the designs she does have finished represent a huge number of hours spent toiling over her Illustrator files.

But she's definitely willing to take one of her existing graphics and work with it on a different item/colour of clothing (or in this case, the blankets), as long as it doesn't totally compromise the integrity of the design.

Sorry if that's a disappointment; it's completely my fault for not being all that great at explaining things :o

As to your other questions:

- the graphics are very durable, and have lush colour and a really nice soft feel to them. Everything she sells (so far anyway) is fine in the washing machine, but she recommends hanging them to dry in order to get the longest life out of them -- the dryer is notoriously hard on clothes in general, and it will drastically reduce the lifespan of any graphics.

- the adult size blankets are great for two people to snuggle under :D

Ah, no worries.

I tend to think and imagine bigger than I have the rights to.

Using existing designs she already has, I've pieced together some ideas using her current ideas such as the Blanket having all those jelly beans piled up in a corner except for one missing color that stands out to the person looking at it. All they have to do is then flip the blanket over and there is the missing color jelly bean!

Or another one is that simple bird branch on upper left corner with spots of floating flowers (that she had on her upper sleeve on one of her shirt) floating to the bottom of the blanket onto some imaginary floor or stay suspended on imaginary air.

Another one is a Popcorn pinup girl on some movie theater colored blanket.

Ha, you can tell how flexible her designs are in it's simplicity yet detailed looks with it's potentials being pretty clear. If she keeps this up, her creations will go far.

I think the best way to describe this is it's poetry in design.

EEps! Sorry, OW -- I meant to reply to your last post, and then life intervened and I totally forgot (also meant to mention that there are new items in the shop for anyone interested, but forgot to do that too.. I'm a bad man) :o

The blankets are in the very early prototype stages at the moment, so there may be a bit of a wait on those yet.. she's hoping to have some ready for the cold days ahead though, but there's still some testing that needs to be done as this is a different type of fabric than the cotton used in her other stuff, etc.

I'll pass along your kind and encouraging words though :)

Speaking of kind and encouraging, that reminds me:

TK -- how do you like your wrap?

Gah! I was meaning to buy a cupcake t-shirt but soon forgot. Though it pains me to buy from a...Canadian. It says only one left, but not the size. I must needs to contact her.

And wowza on the model - yabba dabba doo what a hottie! No offense if that's your wife BJ. :o

Yeah, I love the cupcake design. She has a couple different variations as well that I might be able to get you a preview of, since they're not on her storefront yet.. I'll check.

But definitely get in touch. She's done some custom cupcakes in manly sizes before, so just let her know what size you need and you're all set (keep in mind it's American Apparel, so fits a tad 'snug'. Erm.. that should read 'dainty' in your case ;))

YES! Mags -- see my reply to civil_class above. Guys' versions are indeed a possibility.

I don't know if your girlfriend realizes this or not but the shirt with her Tea design on her dress and if she wears it while sitting on top of your face, would that be called "Teabagging" Halo style? :p (Something tells me you wouldn't mind that)

Needless to say, if she create a men shirt with that tea bag design, would it be popular with the guys for that reason? ;)

Ahem. If sir does not appreciate the mysterious amatory tang of a moose-scented garment, sir would do well to brace himself for his looming encounter with Canadian fashions.

Thanks, Squiddy! I'll pass along the compliment!

And I agree -- the bookcharms are a great idea, and the little charms themselves are really cool to boot. She's got a couple of new ones that we haven't got around to photographing yet because we've both been insanely busy, but suffice to say that the collection is constantly growing as she finds new ones to add :)
