Looks nice. Puts me in the mood to play the original again. Also makes me wonder if I should bother tracking down the second one (which I heard wasn't as good as the first).

But more imporantly: Why does Parasite Eve get two sequels and there's still no Vagrant Story sequel?

I have the second one, but I haven't tried it yet. I never actually finished the first, sadly enough. I think I got stuck in the museum and got distracted by something else. PE is one of the series that I'm planning on going through soon, one of those that I've been meaning to play for a long time but never got around to it. It's between PE, Persona, and Grandia for after the Fall rush. PE may be it only because I know I should be able to play through both games w/o much trouble since they're shorter than the others.

I'm in the same boat. I played through the first one twice, and though it's rough around the edges, I really like it's alternative take on survival horror and JRPGs. I bought PE 2 at a bargain bin years ago but never really got into it. After this announcement I'm interested to start playing PE 2 (and maybe PE) again.

It was originally but they moved development to the PSP a while ago. From what I've heard from TGS the game looks pretty amazing for a PSP game.

Is this coming to PSP only? What's the deal? I loved the first and think it's very overlooked. Skip the second or else it will make you feel the first wasn't that great. Heck it was a kind of revolutionary game mixing horror with RPG back then.

The first PE was great, right up there with RE1 and 2. Didn't really care for part2 and only played it for a little while.

If this is coming to psp only isn't that a downgrade to what the game could potentially be or do you think this attempt is to relaunch the series knowing that they don't have to put the same amount of content or effort into a psp game than they would if PE3 was for ps3?

I'd say it's in line with the current Japanese trend focusing on handhelds more and more. I love it. :)

You could look at it as a downgrade, but I'd rather think that since the only other two installments have been on the PSX, this is more a more powerful system for the series than it's had to this point. And I doubt it will take as much effort as a PS3 game. There have been plenty of discussions on the extra expense and difficulty of rendering assets for next gen systems. Maybe this smaller system is just what they wanted so that way it wasn't too big of a risk to bring the series back.

That it is. Both this and Agito XIII are running on modified CC engines.
