Well, it was released 2 days ago... Did anybody pick it up?

Released in the what now? Really? I heard nothing. I guess it is not on Steam, or I would have seen it. Time to investigate.

EDIT: More investigation needed. Both Futureshop and Best Buy in Canada have it for $59.99, but they are both out of stock. Amazon.ca has it, but for $69.99, which I refuse to pay. I need to find an alternate means.

I picked it up. So far I've only played through the opening level, and it seems to be in line with what the reviews have said - a relatively generic shooter that scratches my Hellboy-esque paranormal itch.

I plan on burning through it in the next couple of weeks and tossing it to Goozex.

I am mainly interested in the multiplayer. Return to Castle Wolfenstein had (still has) the only MP that matches TF2 to me. Granted, they are very different games, but only those two have grabbed me to the level of addiction.

Well seeing as they canned a good portion of the team (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/60047) that did the multiplayer aspect of the game I wouldn't have too much hope for it personally.

Yikes. Maybe I will wait for some reviews before purchasing.

Actually, it was released 2 days ago. I am curious also. It all hinges on the MP for me. Don't think I'll even play the SP :).

As for the firings... meh. It's probably nothing but heartless corporate ongoing. The MP is done, game's out. Why pay these guys if they aren't needed? I doubt it is anything about their work. They were probably only developing too, ongoing support will be done by the other studio afaik. So, nothing to really worry about but we'll see.

Reviews are scarce. It is almost like nobody even noticed it came out. I am a bit surprised the game has gotten so little attention until now. I really liked the original, but thought the Return to Castle Wolfenstein was quite boring. So I will be looking for more reviews.

Yeah... Uh... A lot of those teams really deserved to get fired due to the state the games shipped in.

Entirely different teams did the previous Wolfenstein games. This one is by Raven.

Splash Damage, who did Enemy Territory, went on to do Quake Wars. (And I think I remember hearing they're currently working on some new IP) Some company called Nerve Software did the original RTCW multiplayer.

Depends on who you consider trustworthy, I guess. Giant Bomb had a review on launch day, and most of the "name" sites -- IGN, GI, GameSpot, and GameSpy -- have them now, too. Most of them seem to say the same basic thing.

True, but so do about 50% of all games made. It happens or doesn't, regardless of the product quality, which was my point.

Really? All the ones I went to just linked the same two reviews from Gamespy and GameInformer (thanks for the 5 paragraph review outlining the story narrative, now what about the game?), and used those as a score. Gamespot and IGN only linked those two in a metacriticesque fashion. Maybe some came out since this afternoon.

Eitherway, I found the clincher for myself after looking up some more details. From RTCW's 64 player limit we come to Wolfenstein's 12 player limit. 6vs6?! It can't possibly be anything like its predecessor unfortunately. Remember the fun team-based MP of RTCW, storming the beaches together to get through that sea wall? Well... that's not going to happen again. I don't think all games should be updated copies, but it was the MP style I specifically liked.

12 players?!?! No, of course that's not a remnant of console development  Thanks for the info, I just saved $50+.

I clicked through to a bunch of them early yesterday, so they're there. Giant Bomb (http://www.giantbomb.com/wolfenstein/61-21119/reviews/), GameSpot (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/returntocastlewolfenstein/review.html), IGN (http://pc.ign.com/articles/101/1016364p1.html).

Ditto this for me. I would have paid $50 for a graphical update to RtCW's MP alone. This new game sounds like a massive step backwards though.

I played the demo on the 360. It was fun until the hellboy stuff started up. I like the feel of the old guns. I may eventually pick this up. How big of a part do the sci-fi elements play? Does it go sci-fi right in the beginning and never look back?

You can run and gun for the most part if you want, though some areas can't be cleared at all without gratuitous spammage of your veil powers. Weapon upgrades help, though.

And it's finally on steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/10170/), which means I can finally buy it.
