I cannot find Dead Space anywhere in my town.
It's so damn annoying.

A Toys R Us I called tried telling me the release date was next Tuesday, and got mad when I corrected them. :p
Unless anyone gets it within the next few hours, I'll pick it up tomarrow.

Local GameStops are stating tomorrow is shelf date (Wednesday). I also noticed it's not available for in-store pickup on the GameStop site anymore.
...yea this is odd as apparently Saints 2 is in-store today as well as having just shipped today. *shrugs*

Yessss, I love this! Sadly, it's not available for every single game (yet!), but if it catches on, they're bound to extend it to as many titles as possible. I've actually reversed my buying habits with this. Now, if I need it day one, I order from Amazon. If it can wait, I pick it up in the store.

Yah, I know I'll be driving around town tonight looking for Fifa 09, but I seriously doubt any of the stores will have stock :(

Yep, the Gamestop website takes down the in-store pickup a couple days before a game is released. Sunday morning I remembered I hadn't preordered the game yet so I went ahead and did it because I wanted to get the free code for the armor. Pretty painless. I'll probably be doing this now rather than driving down to the local Gamestop whenever they have good preorder goodies. You do have to watch out though: they warn you that if you don't pick up the game a day or two after it comes out, they have the right to charge you $5.00 for restocking fees. I got the code emailed to me the next day.
I kinda wish I had waited until after I had peeked at the Circuit City Sunday ad though. You can get a $10.00 gift card if you pick it from there, and I probably would've gone that route. You could also do the Toys R Us B2G1 deal.

Weird. With it being an EA game I figured you guys would be able to get it today.

The title of this thread has been the bane of my existence for so long. At least it's getting better. I remember when stores used ship date and release date interchangeably. Nothing would piss me off more than driving one hour to a store (small town at the time) only to find out it would be released the next day, despite all indication otherwise. If an obscure title, the trouble was magnified b/c the previews/magazines stated this date, maybe even made a tag line with it, but you couldn't find it anywhere. You were even lucky if the employees had ever heard of the game.

You're right. And we all get more and more accustomed (spoiled). The fact that we can now get a title on the street date, yet never leave our house is reason to be happy.
You young, angry kids get off my lawn! :p

I really can't afford to buy this game right now, but dammit guys, it's going to happen if you keep talking about it all the time!

For those of you that drive around looking for a game... What about a phone? I just call stores up to see if they have it. If not, takes a lot less time than actually going out there and back.

Pppssshhh! That takes away the excitement of driving to the store. Don't tell me you never hightailed it after work/school on "release day" to a series of retailers as the questions of will they/won't they have it today bouncing around inside your head. The thrill of the chase. Not me! No sir! Well, maybe once.
Seriously, the phone never helped back then, unless you had a good game store. Then you could count on the game being there. That's when preordering a game meant something and super special, collectors' editions actually carried their value.

Since everybody else will have it tomorrow as well, I can take my money elsewhere.

I prefer taking my dates on shore. Ship dates suck. (I couldn't resist).
Of course, now I'm married. Dates involve a quiet moment to ourselves without the munchkins! :)

It shipped from ebstop Monday if you ordered online, not sure why it took until today for it to get to stores. I don't like them but ebstop if the most reliable place for getting games on release or sometimes before. I got BF: Bad Company early from ordering online.

Damnit, Toys R Us! Apparently they're the only ones in the world who didn't get the memo that the date changed. Which wouldn't be a big deal, except I was going to take advantage of their B2G1 deal. Won't be picking up Dead Space there now.

I was just bitching about this actually. So... since I have not been to a store yet today, can anyone confirm Shaun White snowboarding in any stores? I want it bad, TDU\Burnout paradise style seamless MP sounds too awesome.
Edit: Hmmmm, everywhere has this listed as a November release yet Best Buy has a 10/15/08 date. Looks like I am waiting :(
