Sega is asking for fans to vote on the next Genesis title they bring to Xbox Live Arcade. The games in the running are:
Earthworm Jim
Golden Axe II
Shining Force
Revenge of Shinobi
Streets of Rage
Toejam & Earl
Wonderboy
You can vote at GenesisPoll.com (http://www.genesispoll.com/) once a day until August 21. The winning game will be announced the following day.
Note that Golden Axe II, Shining Force, and Streets of Rage can be had on the 360 (and PS3) as part of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, released earlier this year.

I don't own a 360 myself, but I would have to nominate Toejam & Earl if I did.
All are worthy entries, but the rest lack funk.
The results so far clearly indicate my second choice, Earthworm Jim, is damn-near a shoe-in at this point.

I voted Toejam and Earl, but I'd be happy with anything on that list.

They should definitely prioritize games that aren't on the Genesis collection.

Earthworm Jim is leading the poll right now (seemingly by a lot). If they do EWJ, they should do the entire run. My vote is for Toejam and Earl, I still can't get enough of that game

Too bad it's not the "special" or "uncut" or whatever they called it edition of Earthworm Jim that came out on the Sega CD...or 32X...can't remember. But it was the best version of EJ you could get.
edit: It was the Sega CD. And it was called the Special Edition. Had a new level, and other bells 'n whistles.

Maybe they'll give us a port of that six months after we buy the original.

I voted Toe Jam and Earl and Shining Force would have been my second choice.
Toe Jam is still one of my favorite Genesis games, so that wins out by default for me. I'd still be happy with Jim.
Now if only they'd put General Chaos on LIVE...

If they are going to do Shining Force they might as well do Shining Force II. SFII was so much better.
Revenge of Shinobi. Still the best Shinobi game and the Yuzo Koshiro is on a pa with his work in Streets of Rage. EWJ comes second.
I'm sure that they are going to release all of these anyway, unless SEGA are allergic to money..Oh wait, this is SEGA!

If you vote anything other than Earthworm Jim you are a retard.
If you vote anything other than Earthworm Jim you are a retard.
Proud to be one then. Revenge of the Shinobi is by far the best in the list.

We have a wiener!
I would have voted for ToeJam and Earl, but I already have that on my Wii (probably played it more than any actual Wii game), so I'm going to go with Shinobi.

I'd love that. The problem is, the Sega CD's notoriously difficult to emulate. Sega's never done it.

Well, someone has, because I can play my Dracula Unleashed (since my old Big Square CD finally lost its happiness) on my PC. :)

Eh, where did you hear that it is difficult to emulate? PC emulators have had Sega CD compatibility for like, at least a decade. Hell, I'm not even sure if it involves much more than emulating the Genesis hardware, I think the biggest advantage of the CD-addon was just being able to read from a larger storage medium.

Sega has said so before as reasons why they've never rereleased a Sega CD game on other platforms, although I can't remember exactly where.
"What about Sonic CD?"
The version in Sonic Gems was the PC version.

Well, that could be the case, or maybe they just found it more efficient to use the Genesis versions since they are going to port more Genesis games anyway? They don't want to expend the resources on trying to emulate Sega CD games, easy or not. Not to mention that they take up way more space.

They compress really, really well. They went nuts with redbook audio back then.

I voted for TJ&E but Earthworm Jim is winning by like 30%. Which is Okay, as it's great.
even my Xbox180 can run Sega MegaCD flawlessly. Maybe in the future we'll see some ports. I'd happily pay 1200 Microsoft Space Points for a Live version of Sonic CD.

You and me both. I can still hook up my Genesis/Sega CD to play it, but the cords are frayed and I don't feel like looking for replacements,

Earthworm Jim is coming to XBLA, PSN, WiiWare and mobile from developer Gameloft. (Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5339142/earthworm-jim-coming-to-wii-ps3-and-360))
That, and the Genesis Poll site isn't online anymore, even though it should have been running until Friday. I'm currently getting a 403 Forbidden error. So this may be a website error rather than Sega making a final decision on their Genesis poll.
The press release (http://www.destructoid.com/earthworm-jim-headed-to-download-services-and-cell-phones-144594.phtml) doesn't really specify whether Earthworm Jim will be a straight port or something more:
Gameloft and Interplay to Bring Earthworm Jim to Mobile Platforms and Downloadable Consoles

NEW YORK, NY UNITED STATES
The Game Wiggles its Way on to Xbox Live Arcade, WiiWare(TM), PlayStation(R)Network and Mobile Devices
NEW YORK, August 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gameloft, a leading developer and publisher of downloadable video games, today announced a multi-year licensing agreement with Interplay to develop, distribute and publish Earthworm Jim, a popular run and gun platform video game featuring an earthworm who dresses up in a Super Suit to fight evil. The game will make its way to mobile, WiiWare(TM), PlayStation Network, with an exclusive one month run on Xbox Live(R) Arcade.
"We are delighted to partner with Interplay to bring Earthworm Jim to multiple downloadable platforms," said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president, Gameloft. "The game, with its humorous and edgy style, is a great fit for today's gamer who craves a fully immersive experience that is fun and easily accessible. We look forward to delivering a fantastic game."
"Earthworm Jim resonates with millions of people worldwide and we are excited to have one of the best developers in the industry create this game for a new audience," said Herve Caen, CEO, Interplay. "Gameloft's creativity coupled with its innate knack for innovative games, makes us 100% confident that the result will be nothing short of stellar."
Initially released in 1994, Earthworm Jim's games garnered such a cult following that the character's popularity took him far beyond video games into an animated TV series, Toys and Comic books. Earthworm Jim centers around an ordinary earthworm who engages in normal worm activities- eating dirt, crawling and fleeing from hungry birds- that is until he comes across a high tech indestructible space suit. Jim takes refuge in the space suit while fleeing from hungry birds. The suit's powerful atomic particles cause him to grow and obtain newfound powers.
The game will be available in the last quarter of 2009. For the latest information on the game, follow Gameloft on our Twitter feed: http://www.twitter.com/Gameloft

Perhaps the greatest Diamond in the rough, this game's magnificence shined only on the 32x...man I would so love to get to play this again on a modern console.

you also needed that sweet 6 button controller to fully enjoy it.
there was a sequel made on the Saturn only in japan...that you can see on youtube, it looks equally awesome. It's apparently quite a collectible game...I'd love to play it.
oh yeah...legit genesis game that owned.
