Just in time for the first day of the Gamescom convention in Germany, Capcom will be unleashing a multiplayer demo of Lost Planet 2 onto Xbox Live this Wednesday, August 19.

The multiplayer demo will let up to four players take a crack at one of the game's bosses: the Salamander. There will be multiple ways to defeat the beast, including cutting off it's legs and blowing it up from the inside.

Lost Planet 2 will hit the 360 & PS3 early in 2010.

This is such super-sweet news. A band of CoG'ers joining forces to take down huge creatures.

Lets do this!

Oh, I'd try it that way, but that would require LIVE Gold and would be much better if I actually had a headset. ;)

EDIT: And Doc, you may want to change the OP, it's coming at the same time on PS3, and I want to say PC too.

Probably because it was for the 360 demo. ;)

Did I ever say there was one? I was just saying the game is multiplatform, only listing it as a 360 release looks strange.

Think of it this way...
The demo of the first Lost Planet put $60 in your pocket.

Co-op against a giant beastie. I'm in!

So who's volunteering to go inside the thing? :)

Man, I don't like MP-only demos. Like this morning, I tried to play MvC2 and it wouldn't let me play a SP game. Is there a SP demo and I just downloaded the wrong one?

Sweet! I am stoked to try this. It looks like Sci Fi Monster Hunter now. That's something I can certianly get behind.

Kato can put his foot up its ass, I've got dibs on the mecha!

Did not like the first one but this one looks really cool. They got rid of the orange stuff right?

Can't wait to check it out with some friends.

I haven't even finished the first one, for the same reason I haven't finished Dead Rising. I get too nervous and uncomfortable playing games with artificial time limits tacked on. Frustration central. Thanks so much Capcom for ruining Dead Rising and LP1 by including them.

I played a 4 player battle online against one of those huge creatures at E3 and was soooooooooooo much fun. I ripcorded into it's mouth, ran down into it's stomach and was shooting its heart from the inside while all these crazy internal pesticites were trying to kill me. Then the monster did this big puking motion and threw me up. It was bad ass!

The first games demo turned me off to which I did not buy. This will probably do the same

Actually, the demo for the first one sold me on the game and I played the shit out of MP when it came out. There was just something about this game that I loved and got up to my 50 rank achievement and stopped playing cause at that point it was nothing but Japanese kids kicking my ass.

Nope. It's only multiplayer, just like the SFIIHD demo from last year.

And just like the original LP demo.

But this thread is about the demo and the information only states a 360 demo so why would listing it as a 360 release look strange. I think it would be stranger if he mentioned PS3/PC then it would be misleading since they haven't announced those demos yet.

No matter if a story is about a specific verison of a game or not we've always seen the games listed as "released for console X/Y/Z". The post made it look like it was only a 360 game. It looks inaccurate, that's all

I agree, but I can't think of one single time when the T-Eng counter ran down on me during my playthrough of Lost Planet. I played it on normal, but still -- more often than not, I had the counter completely maxed out. The 'timer' really wasn't an issue in that game.

Dead Rising was a different story though. It was entirely possible to run out of time with that game, but the trade off was that they rewarded your re-plays by allowing you to keep any experience you gained, thus making progress ever easier while you figured out what to do. Since that game is by far at its best once you've maxed out your stats, it was actually worthwhile just racking up XP when things didn't go according to plan.

I'm most definitely not a fan of timers in games, but oddly enough, those were probably my two favourite titles from the early(ish) days of the 360. Dead Rising is easily one of my all time favourites, in fact.

There were two demos for the original LP. The first demo came out a good 6 months before the game's release, and was single player.

The single player version is the one that pushed me away. There has only been a few games that I have purchased just to play online MP, and this is not one of them.

I was mixed up. I thought the MP demo was released at E3 but yeah, it was the SP demo that released first.

Awesome. Now I just have to wait for the "Colonies 2" edition and the broken multiplayer community to complete the experience. While I wait, I'll knock myself on my ass and have some trouble getting up to get in the mood. :D

I'm looking forward to this demo. I really enjoyed the single player of the first game. Although my experience might have been colored because I borrowed the game from a friend so it didn't cost me anything.

Oh yeah. I'm pretty hot for this game. I just hope the experience and new equipment are more than just cosmetic upgrades.

I'd be happy with an action-y PSO lite.

I grabbed the Jp import and enjoyed it quite a bit. It's much closer to the classic PSO on Dreamcast but with a few improvements like improved Mag evolution, strafing and a huuuge selection of weapons. On the other hand there's a criminal under use of the tough screen for inventory management etc. I really hope they fix it for the US/European release, but I doubt they will.

I recently started playing Blue Burst on a private server, which is super, but I'd rather a fully-fledged sequel for the 360 instead of this universe nonesense.
