The Story Of My Life -- Astronautalis/POS // Pomegranate

Hidden track. It's incredible, I think. Because this song cannot be located on the internet, I'll have to post the lyrics (also can't be found on the web) to shill this genius effectively. Emphasis on Genius. Astronautalis is a genius. So's the guest MC, POS.

Astro:
(I was born in a boxcar,)
Colorblind, pigeon-toed, pockmarked,
Twisted figure, broken heart
They'd fix up with monkey parts.

POS:
(I was born in a four story roach motel,)
With floor to ceiling agitations,
Wooden blocks and a
Basic distaste for anything else.

Astro:
(I was raised by a pack of wolves,)
Nursed in our nation's capitol.
Taught to hunt and gather food,
Howl at the moon in a reflection pool.

POS:
(I was raised by a slow-jam,)
Two grizzlies for a mother who cared
Six packs of ramen, Nostrodamus,
Paranoia and fear.

Astro:
(I fell in love with a flim-flammer,)
Charming con artist, sexy counterfeiter,
Pretty grifter, hidden ace,
Switchbladed, quick fingers.

POS:
(I fell in love with the most beautiful vulture --)
She picked away my flesh;
I'm left with skeletons walking-worn
And tearing through like soldiers

Astro:
(And she gave birth to my only son --)
A smoking gun, blue eyed block chip
-- On the first warm day
To end the ice age frostbit

POS:
(And she gave birth to a lion cub,)
It's followed me for years now.
I'm mean about the age so I don't peek.
I know it's chewing on my fingers while I sleep.
I know it's stupid but it keeps without a leash,
And I've been trying to set it loose:
It seems like it's freedom stripping me
So I treat it like what it is;
I lay these egg-shells to remember to be careful

Both:
You can find a swarm where the stingers hold back,
You can find a warm spot in a cold snap,
If you don't scratch when the itches make your hair stand tall,
It may shake you but you won't fall down.
X2

Astro:
Justice can sleep for centuries to wake when it's least expected.
I never seen no _______ deeds fall on those who expect them.
Life ain't a dream, it's just a string of jokes all connected.
There's something beautiful to me in the act of making your own death bed.

POS:
And leave some, we walk our smiles like chalk, quick to wash off, (This is)
Shooting loose and unbuttoned, like "let me draw." (No weapon)
Love it raw 'til tender is far to fierce for us; (This is)
Winter is almost here for us, and it's like July. (No weapon)
Hard to find tracks when it's buried under so much decay, (This is)
hard to find trail when it's buried under what's paved. (No weapon)
This is the story of my trial by erosion of words, (This is)
Simple what's right like who's just being polite. (No weapon)

Yeah, maybe for some of the songs you're probably right. I have a hard time classifying all the metal I listen to. I usualy have to hear a folk instrument to call it folk-metal though. Wintersun is more folk-inspired metal.

Yeah I was thinking it was Thanasimos....and as far as favourite songs, I really like the first song off of Mar Dulce. Off the self titled cd though, I can tell you I think I remember not liking Mi Corazon, because the singer just repeats it over and over again. I just bought the album (whee!) and I found the lyrics online, which from what I hear are almost completely accurate (If I corrected, the original is in gray):

Spoilers contain my first attempt to understand it in English.
Please keep in mind that Spanish is my second language and that I am not trying to maintain the poetic nature of the lyrics in translating, so what I suggest as the meaning will sound nowhere near as good. mastergeo7 can laugh at me all he wants :p

He read again,
Almost without seeing,
Wrapped in a dense cloud of emotion
He lost his smell and that taste
Of the mornings, of a life that he overcame
Today, today, today...

He read again, and walked
Underneath that fucking rain that doesn't stop hitting
And he felt it... what's he going to feel?
While the tears shed by the liter
He read again, surprised
Looking for help, a cure, compassion
And in a café he took shelter
And outside the world went on without reason

Today he didn't know and it's not {a group? what??} this hole inside
The judgment was so stupid
That clinical evidence
She's there right now, only inches away
In that zone where it wrinkles down to the pain(¿?)
And furthermore... he can't see
Why the future went to pieces today
And the bottle tries to manage
As if that way he were going to erase his curse.

He read again, said to himself goodbye,
From now on there would only be farewells.
(etc.)
I don't think it's a happy song, but you could probably tell :p

If you mean the word, it means "Today". If you mean a song by, say, Bajofondo, I don't already know of it and I'll have to listen to it sometime after I get back from watching Religulous tonight :p
Hope you enjoy it! That film is not playing anywhere in my entire state.

M83 - Safe / Before The Dawn Heals Us

I just bought the album (whee!) and I found the lyrics online, which from what I hear are almost completely accurate (If I corrected, the original is in gray):

Spoilers contain my first attempt to understand it in English.
Please keep in mind that Spanish is my second language and that I am not trying to maintain the poetic nature of the lyrics in translating, so what I suggest as the meaning will sound nowhere near as good. mastergeo7 can laugh at me all he wants :p

He read again,
Almost without seeing,
Wrapped in a dense cloud of emotion
He lost his smell and that taste
Of the mornings, of a life that he overcame
Today, today, today...

He read again, and walked
Underneath that fucking rain that doesn't stop hitting
And he felt it... what's he going to feel?
While the tears shed by the liter
He read again, surprised
Looking for help, a cure, compassion
And in a café he took shelter
And outside the world went on without reason

Today he didn't know and it's not {a group? what??} this hole inside
The judgment was so stupid
That clinical evidence
She's there right now, only inches away
In that zone where it wrinkles down to the pain(¿?)
And furthermore... he can't see
Why the future went to pieces today
And the bottle tries to manage
As if that way he were going to erase his curse.

He read again, said to himself goodbye,
From now on there would only be farewells.
(etc.)
I don't think it's a happy song, but you could probably tell :p

Thanks much! (Yeah, I could tell it wasn't happy in about ten seconds of listening.)

Uh oh, could it be happening again? That CoG is already a popular enough website that embedded music videos gets them pulled down?

If you think that's what was happening at EvAv, you'd be dead wrong. It's just an issue with youtube embedding. The quick fix is quoting the post, going to the youtube tags, and copy/pasting the video ID into place in a Youtube video url, and visiting that.

For example, tags {youtube}eP9csWhlHWM{/youtube} go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP9csWhlHWM

Really? 'Cause some of the ones that happened to me with actually stopped playing on YouTube even when I went there directly and disappeared entirely soon after.

I never actually found a video that got pulled from posting on EvAv. Maybe if I was going through a thread a few months old, a video would have been pulled, but I'd have a hard time attributing that to one website.

"Ahí Estás Tú" by Chambao, one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. (The point when the English starts in the background is an example of what I think of as musical perfection).

Also: this is the short version, which is unfortunate since the long version has a far better ending.

Bridges are burning but faces are looking away
People are yearning for someone to show them the way

Throw in your cards people and fold again
And get back on a roll
Once this ship has departed

At this very second, Echo Image's "Standing Alone," on the recommendation of LordDon. On my own, however, I recently discovered Mika's album, "Life in Cartoon Motion." Upon listening to his station on Last.FM, I have decided I need to explore more Britpop. Also, I think I need to find some good synthpop. This Echo Image intrigues me.
