I thought Microsoft fixed the DRM problem automatically for people whos boxes were replaced by them? I've been deleting and re-downloading some of my games and when my internet went out for a bit they still don't work!

Did you get the same Xbox back? If not, you'll need to do the content migration (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/licensemigration/) thing.

I got the xbox back recently, complete with the slip of paper asking me to redownload everything to this xbox and everything will be magic. I went through my history of 600 items redownloading all my games and to my (complete lack of) surprise, it didn't work. Live not connected = no games.

I was pretty sure that if microsoft replaced your xbox with another you didn't have to do the migration. I don't even have a way to find my old serial number to do the migration.

Call 'em up. If they did change your 360 out, they should have the old serial number in their system.

You don't need it. You just need to be able to hook up your new box so the software can read that one. I had an issue with this, though, and all it took was a quick call to Customer Support and they unlocked everything for me.

I know that's what I had to do when I got a new 360 back from MS. After I did that, everything worked great, and I haven't had any problems.

Same story here. I was very glad for the background downloading and queuing you can do now.

Aww! No enlightening rants by Johan. Yes, we all know his (totally justified) views on this topic, but that doesn't make them any less entertaining.

Incidentally, I just used the license transfer thingamajig and it seems to have worked fine. I still need to try Rock Band, but I tried an older Arcade game off-line with a different account and it worked. Yay!
Edit: I had 212 licenses split over 5 old console IDs. :(
