Man, that song is pure nostalgia. I think this is supposed to come out very early next year in the US. XSEED said it may hit this year, but I think like Fragile we'll probably see it in January or February.

Here's a large amount of GameWatch scans (http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20090810_308363.html). Looks very sharp.

No, I will not buy this game a fourth time. I will not.
I probably won't.

Fall 2009 (http://www.xseedgames.com/news.php?id=64).
Oh, I know, but that time frame is fast approaching and we've heard nothing since. I guess I could see a late November or December release, but the PSP release schedule is so busy this Fall I could easily see them waiting til January. It'd make sense. At the very least they'll try to keep their distance from September, which has Persona and Disgaea 2.

Let's hope they keep their sanity and not release it in September. I like early next year. A nice winter game to keep me occupied during the cold weather. And the way the game the first time around was a big challenge, I don't think it's going to be any different now..

Well, it's officially been announced for mid-November in Japan, so barring a really quick localization, January looks like a pretty safe bet right now. :)

I haven't turned on my PSP in a while. This game will change all that.
I think I still have the original Sega CD game in a box in my parent's attic, appreciating in value.

How many fucking times are they gonna re-re-re-re-re-re-release this? I don't mind games getting ports, especially if it's a great game that deserves a second chance, but we've seen this on the Sega CD, the PlayStation, and GBA, at the very least.
If I had a PSP I'd be all over this. Lunar is one of the RPGs I missed (every time it was released, oddly) and I'm now much more into the genre than I was back then. Case in point, I finally played and finished FF VII this past month. Hopefully it comes out on the DS at some point and I can pick it up. That trailer looked slick.

Well, I guess the handful of weeaboos that hated the Working Designs translation will get their wish finally, since that team is long gone now and nowhere near this port.
Still would rather play the PS1 version though. And with CFW, you still could on your PSP anyway.

I might get this just to have it. I sold my copy of the PS1 version during some hard time a couple years back.

Yeah. Definitely sold. I had to unload my PS1 copies of Lunar during a bit of financial distress a few years ago, so it would be nice to have it back again in some form.

Pre-ordered. I no longer have my Sega CD copy, but I've still got my Working Designs Collector's Edition. I'd hate to purchase the same game 3 times, but Lunar is completely worth it.

I loved WD's translation. I wonder how the XSEED version will differ?
I wonder if GameArts (the original developer I believe?) will ever make a Lunar 3?

I pre-ordered my the other day when I received the email. I still have my original disc but I don't mind buying another version for my PSP.

I saw something recently where XSEED said they were sticking very close to WD's translation (I guess they got the rights to do so) but were making some tweaks and updates here and there. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Yeah, it was GameArts. I'd love to see that, and another Grandia.

That's good. J Arcane made it sound like XSEED was starting from scratch.
I'd like to see another Grandia as well, but more like the PSOne original.

Ahhhh weeaboo... never thought I'd see that term pop up here. But hey, to each his own. I can understand the desire for a "proper" translation of the game but personally I think WD did some of the best translations in the business. Sure they were campy but they fit the spirit of the game well and gave it a much needed injection of personality.

Any word on the vocal cast? Another thing that WD did well was casting vocal talent. Gah, this is making me want to play the PSOne version again so I can her the audio blooper reel at the end.

Or play the neat little hidden minigame on the making of disc. :)

Sorry, I agree with you, it's just I have a personal hatred of elitist anime fans, and to be honest I was shocked when I first discovered the internet and found there were even people at all that disliked the WD translation, as I thought it was the best thing about Lunar.
Anime fans have a lot of weird ideas about what constitutes a "good" translation, pretty much all of them retarded, and most of which have more to do with "everything Japanese is better!" than anything else, which is more or less the definition of weeaboo.
Also, it's a fun word. Weeaboo. Way better than the word it replaced. ;)

If anyone ever doubted your hardcore gaming status, this should put to rest any doubts. If I had the disc handy I would be looking for that mini-game.

Do I need to buy this or just rip my PSOne Lunar Silver Star Complete? I'm going out of town next week and trying to decide what things to take/play while stuck in the hotel room.

I think they've made enough changes to justify the purchase of the PSP version. The Limited Edition is really well put together. Plus, if you beat the demo, you get a nice weapon for Luna early in the game. Made the White Dragon cave a bit easier.

If I can sneak out later today I'm going to run by GS and see if they have a limited Edition copy. Thanks.

I'm kind of interested in this but I had trouble getting into the PS1 version. I think the story and gameplay didn't grab me at the time. Perhaps if I see this cheap I'll give it a shot. The screens look nice.

Looks like they ripped off a shot from the Vision of Escaflowne intro (the feathers/looking up one).

That was in the original, so I don't know. I wouldn't exactly call that a unique thing, that's been done in more than a few games/movies.

Just as good, except they've toned down the crazy humor a lil bit. IIRC, WD was a little more zany, but I like it so far. The voice acting is good and the graphic upgrade is nice. They've also added "Arts" to the battle system (think FFVII's Limit Breaks). The field maps have changed too. I still have the Lunar: SSSC strat guide, and the maps are completely different.
I've always liked the story and characters, so I'm digging this version of the remake. Just what I needed to tide me over until March 9th.

Now that FFXIII is done, I think it's time to save the world of Lunar.
