View Full Version : Gah! Oblivion GOTY Issues

So the story goes, when Oblivion came out originally, I bought it. Played for a bit and realized that the atrocious load times and crap that didn't work right might be a disc issue, so I exchanged it and it turned out I was right. I didn't have wait forever to enter rooms, load times were slow but not unbearable, etc.

Then I stopped for some reason and never finished. When the GOTY version came out, I ended up picking that up, but never actually played it. Till now. And now the problems are way, way worse. The initial load can take almost five minutes, but I don't care too much about that since it's a one time deal at the start. What really gets me is the in game freezing now. Like, going up to one of the guards or the king in the sewers and hitting (A) to talk to them freezes the game for a full two minutes before it'll go to the conversation part with dialouge trees. Same goes for opening chests, though not always and not for as long, or doing things like drawing my sword or casting magic, again more infrequently, but still happening.

Has anyone else had this problem before? Is there another patch I need o go download (it's on X360, but I have to travel to connect to Live)? Is it a bad disc (again)? Help?

Edit: Dammit! Stupid C key being too close to the V...

I remember hearing about this problem; clearing the cache may help.

Awww, someone beat me to it. I figured they would have fixed that before they released GotY edition. I remember when that first stated happening when I played through the original. The cache clear is like "BAM! Fixed." I got in the habit of clearing the cache every time I loaded the game... never had a problem after that.
