Anyone remember a little game called Battlecruiser 3000AD?

Well the man behind it, kereD tarmS, is apparently back with 2 new games, demos of which are now on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=3000AD). Plus, he's already living up to his famed Usenet flamewar reputation by churning up tensions on the Steam forums (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=930894).

I'll try to give the demos a whirl sometime tomorrow, might be interesting.

I saw their two new games on Steam not 10 minutes ago and was this close to starting a thread about it...I figured I'd wait until we start to get reports of just how aweful the games are. Who knows, maybe old DS will surprise us this time around.

I'll try the demo for All Aspect Warfare, but I'd be shocked if it was really much different from previous DS efforts.

The Battlecruiser series is one of the most universally awful set of games I've ever played. We're talking Virtual Boy levels of fail, a fail so bad that it ruined the concept for everyone else.

I go between hating that dude and admiring him for at LEAST making a game by himself. Something many will never do. I have played most of them and yes they are clunky, hard to control, difficult to understand. However, at times there is an impressive amount of depth and ideas behind it.

It's impossible to have a civil discussion about his games, it seems, but I'll put my vote in as one of the few who enjoy the games for what they are, no matter how batshit Derek Smart himself may be.

I think here, at least, it's possible to have a civil discussions about his games. If people try the demo and say it's decent I'll check it out.

There is always going to be ripping on DS the man in threads like these, but I firmly believe he brings all of that upon himself.
