I was just wondering if something like this would ever be possible. If so, what do you think it would be like?

The day the first handheld MMO comes out, I fear for humanity. (and their free time)

I'd say Phantasy Star Zero on DS, but then everyone would bring up how PSO wasn't really an MMORPG (not exactly massive, maybe not even RPG, depending on your definition), so I won't.

I think the setup will have to be better on some of these devices. I mean I think I heard someone say bluetooth headsets will work on PSP now? Maybe I'm mistaken. But stuff like that would be needed. I would think being able to take you character from a MMO, but him in a different world on the hand held, so that you can grind and do different quest single player, then upload him back to the online game would be better.

Imagine if you could WoW out at home, then put you character on PSP, do single player stuff on the go, in bathroom, where ever and then put him back. I think people would be so addicted.

I like the idea of taking him into an offline mode and then training.

Unfortunately, I think that would lead to rampant hacking.

Didn't SOE say that they plan to try out some MMOs on the PSP to see if they can get something working?

I suppose that is why I have never heard of them. That, and I have never owned anything sony in my entire life!

Never even a Walkman/Discman?

And how you've managed to avoid the Playstation brand is beyond me (and I'm not sure why you'd want to).

Well I was thinking more like you pop him in a single player mission where you play through a adventure but you can also get extra goodies you can't get in the MMO. I wouldn't allow over leveling.

Hmm, I bet the iPhone could run Ultima Online and other early MMOs no problem. I'm surprised no one's working on that yet.

Edit: There are some iPhone WoW utilities though, but you can't actually play.

I have an OQO. It also runs Phantasy Star Online (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-555845073835469941). That's my hands and OQO in the video. :D

I wirelessly connect the OQO to my Centro (Bluetooth) for 3G Internet access. You can even play online that way.
