"Avangard Omsk head coach Wayne Fleming said Cherepanov collapsed during the third period Monday night. Fleming said he did not see anything on the ice that could have contributed to the collapse and said medical personnel tried to get Cherepanov's heart beating again after it had stopped."

Very sad news , I am in shock right now. I have been waiting for the day this kid made the big club as he was going to be our version of Evgeni Malkin. Great talent without a doubt. RIP , what a shame. It sucks being a human being some times , you can be happy and healthy one minute and gone in the next minute. :(

I was shocked when I saw this earlier today...

He was way too young, and just about to reap the benefits of all the hard work he's put in his whole life. :(

It's terrifying how suddenly these things can happen, even to a young kid who's in top shape...

Any Bulgarians on the ice with an umbrella?

Really too bad. Never have been much of a Rangers fan though.

Now I remember where I saw this kid. When I watched the 2008 World Juniors, he was playing so well, I remember thinking that he'd be one to watch when he got into the NHL.

What a shame.
