How many of you have put off either purchasing or playing Castle Crashers after being burned by the inept online experience? Well, your waiting may soon be at an end.

Off The Behemoth's blog comes word that work on the patch is coming to a close and it will soon be handed over to MS for certification, a process which they warn can take "a few weeks," or longer if there's something wrong with it. They apologize and say that they couldn't upload the fixes one by one, so this baby will correct all known issues.

Sounds like the fix will hit right in the middle of the busy holiday season, so good luck with actually finding time to play the game online.

Oh, excellent. Now I won't fear playing this online.

I'm happy if they fix the online co-op part of things but I also want them to address the whole "If you're not playing the game on the 360 you originally downloaded it onto, your progress gets wiped" bug. I had to send my 360 in for servicing and when it came back (as a refurbed new unit) voila - my lovely Green Knight and animal orbs are gone and reset. Sigh.

At least the game is fun enough to warrant me replaying it and grinding back up, but sheesh.

And just in time for me to have tons of other games I'll be more interested in playing.

Won't be too bad if you use the catfish glitch. :)

If anyone finds their progress has been wiped when they go to select a character try this before starting with a lvl1 character:

Go to the Castle Crashers title screen.

Sign out of your profile and then sign back in.

This has always brought my characters back whenever I see the glitch, and it happens on every startup for me because like Spigot above I am playing on a refurb that wasn't the original download box.

I tried this repeatedly and it didn't work for me. Instead I just decided not to play and when I took my HDD home, my save was fine.

Yeah, the game doesn't know what system it's on.

If you think that's bad, if you take your HD to a machine other than the one you bought it on, and don't have internet, you can only play the trial version of the game.

Only played it offline so far with friends. Will the bug ruin offline games, or only online games?

I don't play it online and I've never seen this bug.

If you take your HDD and plug it into a friend's 360. It will reset your data if you let the game auto-save. It told me I had no previous data at my friend's, but instead of starting a new game I just turned it off, and took it home and my previous save was still there, with everything intact. If you have to play it at a friend's, take the whole system.

I don't play it online and I've never seen this bug.I never played it online and while it was fine on the old Xbox, when I got the refurb after my original one died, I loaded up the game to see all of my progress gone.

I'll try the fix and see if it helps. I'm not going to cry if it doesn't... as long as it doesn't wipe it over and over again.

I thought all games are like that, it's more a Microsoft DRM thing. I know when I take my hard drive to a friend's for Rock Band, the downloaded songs don't show up unless his 360 is connected to the internet.

That's a pretty minor feature in comparison. At least you can still play and share levels from the start. You just can't build them together.

I was a huge supporter of The Behemoth. I loved Alien Homnid and actually bought it twice. Once on the Gamecube and once on XBLA. Then I bought Castle Crashers sight unseen even before playing the demo. But the way they have handled this whole fiasco has bugged the hell out of me. Nearly two months after the game has launched they are finally getting around to fixing the problem. It wouldn't have been so bad if they would have at least kept us updated, but instead we heard maybe six or seven sentences from them on the topic over a period of several weeks. In fact, when the problem was originally reported, they downplayed it by discussing how "some people" were apparently having problems.

If this is a result of them being a "small team" then I say forget small teams. I don't pay for games that I have to wait MONTHS to actually play. That is fucking retarded.

Oookay. How about Playstation Home (http://www.castle-vidcons.com/?s=orphan)?

I've played a ton of Castle Crashers... just not online. Had this bug been caught before... we'd still be waiting for the game. The whole mentality this gen seems to be 'shove it out the door and patch it later'.

Well, you have to be sure to crack the case open first, so you can get the components nicely coated. That's where people often mess it up. :D

Wait, what in the world does that have to do with Castle Crashers? And why are you trying to turn my criticism of Castle Crashers into some inane "PS3 vs. 360" debate? I didn't pay anything for Home. Home isn't even a videogame and I could frankly careless about it. How in the hell it is, in any way, connected to a discussion of Castle Crashers is beyond me. We are not just talking about a product delay. We are talking about a retail product that is broken and has been for a couple of months.

Wait, what in the world does that have to do with Castle Crashers?

It is in response to Siraris' "Too little too late" comment. Castle Crashers delivered a solid, local multiplayer experience. Does it suck the online multiplayer does not work? YES! Is a patch 'too little too late'? hardly.

I think it is edging towards 'too little too late' territory. It'll be over 2 months and maybe close to 3 before it's released. Negative word of mouth has probably spread about the online component, causing a decent amount of lost sales.

It's great this is finally coming out, but it does seem like a long wait.

I didn't buy the game because of all the bug reports, and now I've sort of lost interest.

It seems that I always pick up games once everyone has moved on, and thus I miss out on playing with others. :(

I'll have to try the fix mentioned above. If that doesn't fix things, they'd better patch it in the this upcoming patch or I'll be livid. It wasn't my fault my 360 died and that they sent me a new unit. Grr...

Because games are only good at launch? I mean, I know it's stupid it's taking this long, and there should have been more testing, but everything except the online component is fine. People will just play it later instead of sooner.

Edit: Now, Spigot on the other hand, has an honest reason to be really mad.

Double Edit: I should clarify. Obviously, it's too late for a very core group of gamers on here that want to move on to the next best thing, but for the majority of people (who have made this title the most played Arcade game on Live since it launched--despite its problems), it's not.

Have you tried redownloading your licenses to the new machine? That can sometimes cause problems, and can be fixed from the xbox live support website.

I'll try to find it for you.

The game is awesome but the online component is seriously one of the hugest parts of the game. I've only got it to work with 2-3 people at max (including me). That's disappointing.
