For those of you who may not have heard, Guitar Hero 5 is going to allow you to rock out on stage with your avatar!

I'm not into GH, but I think that's a pretty neat feature. Especially if it lets you use clothing from in game and it reflects on the dashboard.

Gorvi, don't worry, as I'm sure it's optional. But you're more of a PS3 person, aren't you?

I'm not even a Guitar Hero/Rock Band person, I just can't stand avatars. ;)

Oh I'm not a GH fan either .. but it is a nice way to incoperate your avatar in a game you play outside of avatar games.

Well...it's a step up from the game's models. At least you can personalize them, something you couldn't do in GH before.

Lego characters were fun until we got five new Lego movie tie-ins every year.

I know a ton of people who are gonna go ga-ga over this. Like them or no, there are a TON of people who simply ADORE those little things.

Edit: Personally, one of the things I prefer Rock Band over Guitar Hero for is the art direction. The Guitar Hero characters were never appealing, even when you can make your own. Just a matter of personal taste though. I think the style used renders itself to ugly characters. I would much rather see a band of avatars jamming out. :)

Yeah, seriously. I thought it was going to be incredibly dumb, but after seeing that video I really want to see mine in GH5. I don't even care that much for avatars, I just thought that looked really good.

I just hope they do this for Rock Band, because Guitar Hero can go fuck off.

After watching the video it isn't as bad as I assumed it would be. Definitely looks alright.

Doesn't look bad, definitely not distractingly bad like the older GH characters were. I still have nightmares about GH3's lead singer.

Weaksauce.

I used to be a music game fan...until the market got utterly saturated with them, many of them being shitty too (looking at you, Get on Da Mic or whatever stupid title was).

Call me when Led Zeppelin does a Rockband/Guitar Hero game. Though I don't plan on waiting by the phone, since it ain't gonna happen. Ever.

After watching the Avatar video I have to agree, they made the game look more interesting by removing their own models. The only downside is the lip syncing for the singer, but eh, small price to pay.

Re: Shirley Manson model. By GH standards that model actually looks pretty good, just look at what they did to Billy Corgan. Mutant bald baby!

One thing I haven't gotten yet is, when GH or RB does a full album, why not make some models of the band? I understand getting mocap probably wouldn't work (gotta keep up that weekly release schedule!), but just likeness? Probably would increase the prices on DLC significantly, though.

Still, I really want to play through Dethalbum with the band.

The one thing weird about that video is that the crowd is still using the standard GH5 art direction. Kind of an odd dichotomy, like an audience of troglodytes cheering on plastic people.

It would have been really sweet if the audience was instead made up of avatars of people on my friends list.

That is a great idea. Nintendo's been doing that since Wii Sports, where all the Miis in your system will come and play or cheer you on. In Wii Sports Resort, you can even ave the game go online and pull popular Miis to use in the background. Iron Man was cheering me on in a game of table tennis yesterday.
