I thought I would share this one. New D&D webcomic. M.A. in Dragonslaying (http://mads.smackjeeves.com/comics/).

He seems to be still getting his feet, but it is a good couple of minutes to read. :-)

While we're on the topic of new D&D webcomics, the Red Dragon Inn finally launched ours today (it's only been in the works for, what, a year?). Check it out: Loaded Dice (http://www.rdinn.com/comic.php).

Updates on Mondays and Thursdays. :)

Indeed. I used to do a webcomic, and had a solid fanbase...but it's so damn easy to get lost in those that are absolute crap, sprite comics (that aren't well done/written) and those who are average, but so fucking arrogant and pretentious they seem to saturate the market *cough*CTRL+ALT+DEL*cough*

I get the feeling we should know you, but don't as well :p....and I read the first comic. The writing is alright, but the art is really...elementary.

Loaded Dice looks like it's off to a good start. I'll have to keep an eye on that. M.A. in Dragonslaying... good concept but I can't get past the art.

While we're on the subject of D&D webcomics, who else here reads The Order of the Stick? (http://www.giantitp.com/Comics.html) That one is brilliant.

Order of the Stick is great. These two might need a bit of work.

Too bad their writing isn't astonishing. I always respect those people who do these kinds of things but man...most are horrid.

As my post count suggests, I just registered here. However, I use the same handle across the various interwebs, so odds are not at all impossible that you've seen me "around". I posted here because I noticed another new D&D webcomic being mentioned, and figured that this was as good a place as any to mention Loaded Dice. If I have erred in doing so, I fully accept the smiting due me.

Order of the Stick is absolutely iconic. Love, love, love that one.

Thanks for the feedback on Loaded Dice - honestly, I'm not overjoyed at the first strip, the narration is too heavy-handed. Fortunately, this issue does not persist.

The art may not be Michaelangelo, or even Gabe (of Penny Arcade fame), but I'm happy with it - especially once we get to the "in game" art panels.

As for the writing... well, we'll have to see. Expect typical D&D/gamer humor and throwaway gags as we follow this group and their characters' adventures.

One thing I'll never be guilty of is the pretentous tag... I do get that it's just a webcomic. :D

I personally have no problem with you letting us know about your webcomic. As you said, your post count readily tells us why you registered.

As for critiques, I just think the whole "D&D gamers" aspect might not work as well, but that could just be me. I will continue to follow however; first strips are usually not indicative of how things turn out.

But of course.

Can I also recommend Goblins (http://goblins.keenspot.com/) and (much less so) Lowly Dregs (http://www.lowlydregs.com/)?

Golblins is a lot of fun... well, it used to be a lot of fun, but is still an excellent comic.

No biggie. I'm fine with you mentioning it, and I'll even be checking it out for a while. It was just your tone that made it sound as if we all already knew you that threw me off. Next time, maybe just make it clear that you're a newcomer and it won't come off so shill-ish. ;)

...I've already ruined my chance to do the first newcomer post properly! Can we delete the thread and start over? Maybe I can use the opportunity to appear more witty than I really am! ;)

Seriously, though, sorry if I came across the wrong way. I just saw a "new D&D webcomic" post, figured "hey, if one is good, two is better!" and posted away.

t_catt11, I just figured you knew someone from the InGameChat podcast, as they are based in your city. Which from what I understand has a demon in it that consumes souls, very slowly.

I am unfamiliar with both this podcast and the demon of which you speak. However, from what I understand, my soul is bacon-flavored, which might tempt the demon into consuming it faster.

Couple of updates to Loaded Dice since my original post. Current strip ("We are the Knights who Say...") is possibly my favorite of the pure gag strips we've done so far.

Has there ever been a D&D group that didn't run into this?

Well, in my year and a half of playing online, and single session of face to face, we haven't run into it. :p

We get a momentary devolution. But, it doesn't last too long. :-)

Online games seem less conductive to this. To be honest, I've had better luck with "pure roleplaying" type games in a play by post format than I ever have in tabletop. Of course, play by post takes months to complete what you can do in one night of tabletop...

In any tabletop session I've ever been part of, it seems you can pretty much count on Holy Grail/Princess Bride/Army of Darkness quotes... often to the point where someone has to say "enough".

Oh, and back to the original post of this thread - looks like MADS is really hitting stride in the last couple of strips.

Thought I'd resurrect this thread to let you know that the newest Loaded Dice update introduces you to the in-game character art for the first time. If you're interested, please check it out and let me know what you think.

Also, in an interesting development, I decided that I like "M.A. in Dragon Slaying" well enough to contact its creator and offer him better hosting that what he was suffering through. He happily agreed, so all new episodes of MADS are now located here (http://www.rdinn.com/mads.php).

Sweet? Nah. It's a good comic that fits my existing site very well. The situation is a win-win.

He gets a ready-made audience that already does several thousand page views per day on the site. I get new content updates that I don't have to expend any effort on.

Like I said, win-win.
