I need to pick up CoH. I played it at a friends house a while back and really enjoyed it. I think I could really get into the multi-player aspect of it. I'd buy it on Steam if someone could mail me a dvd with the steam files so I don't have to download it (bandwidth issues).

The problem with buying it off steam and installing from the dvd is that it doesn't work out that way. You either have to buy it off steam and download it, or buy the box.

I was actually looking for someone who has it on steam, who could burn a dvd with the files. Then I start the installation (which creates placeholder files, pause it, exit steam. Copy the full files over. Steam recognizes it and scans, determining that you have the files.

I've done this several times, its a great way to backup steam games.

I would assume that the actual disc is the same too...I might just have to be a bit more selective about by pasting of files to ensure i get the right ones.

I'm up for CoH tonight, I just dusted off the game last week but I'm still a bit rusty.

Can you pick that up on the cheap yet? I keep hearing of the greatness that is CoH yet I've never played it.

It's $30 on Steam http://store.steampowered.com/sub/553/

Or you could buy CoH for $20 and CoH:OF for another $20.

Getting the combined "Gold" is the smarter choice.

And about the same retail.

I would join you guys, but I have Wednesday night classes, and it goes until 10 pm. I'll have to wait until December to join you guys.

Well bummer. nobody actually showed up. I was waiting for a post here to see what times you guys were available, or a message on steam. Oh well, hopefully next week people show up.

I also have Wednesday night classes (as well as Thursday nights) so meh. I really need to pick up CoH. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I do have Sins of a Solar Empire, so I'm down with anyone wanting to play that sometime.

I'd be up for Sins (been a long, long while) or DOW: DC. The only problem is my copy of CoH has gone missing. Might just rebuy the gold edition.

Anyone up for some Dawn of War tonight? I've never tried multiplayer, so I'd like to get a couple of matches under my belt.

I'll be down for CoH but maybe someone should put an event in Steam or something.

I am sorry I forgot, iHap.

Since communication in an RTS is very key to winning and since typing is so very annoying in the heat of battle, I set up a ventrilo server for us.

Ach, that was a mess. I didn't have the right version of vent. Then I didn't have my game updated...very confusing. Anyway, next time someone's up for Dawn of War, let me know. I'm almost 67.8% sure I've got everything set up right.

Well you didn't miss much since most games were incredibly one-sided

Okay, now. Now I've got it figured out. I could only select Tau or Necrons (neither one I've ever really played) even though I'd purchased the original and the winter assualt pack.

So...it turns out that they have to be installed not just sitting in my Steam account. :o C'est la guerre.

Apologies for the confusion. Ich bin ein n00b...

What game do most people have? It's been awhile since I've played multiplayer RTS (think Age of Mythology, Rise of Nations time)...

Company of Heroes?
Dawn of War?

Anything else? I'll probably end up getting them both because I enjoy their subject matter.

The only other RTS that I thought worth continuesly going back to is Sins of Solar Empire. It's like Homeworld but the games run on for a few hours instead of 30-40 minutes. That's just the small maps too.

Soon my plan will be complete. That means a separate connection for the TS or Vent, and some sickly stable me hosting action. Like in the good old days when I lived in NYC.

Yah, I have Sins too, of course ;) Wouldn't I have to turn in my nerd card if I didn't? :P

I think I'll get CoH this weekend. I feel like I might wait until Dawn of War 2 to dive into that universe. So, hopefully, I'll play some games this weekend and get in for some games of something on Wednesday.

How do we add games to the pulldown for our Steam group? I don't see DoW, CoH, or Sins on the list and I was going to setup an event.

Ventrilo is up for anyone that's up for gaming tonight.

I'm hosting it so there's only 8 slots. if it happens to get crowded I may setup teamspeak instead.
