Anyone else played this? We played a round after we finished up the night's RPG session (playing Vampire atm) and it really was a lot of fun. You don't need to know anything about the show to play it, although it helps to know the whys of some things (why the president is on a separate ship rather than the battlestar, etc.). The sleeper cell mechanic is great, but I think what really puts it over the top is that you deal a second round of "Loyalty" cards after you're halfway to winning as the humans, and so you can end up being a Cylon when you weren't one before.

That was the case for me, and so I stayed helpful to my team the entire time, until I managed to force a FTL jump early, and reduced population by 3; we only had 1 at the time, so that was the end, and the Cylons won.

The accusations that fly around are a lot of fun, especially when you're the inside man, and you're not under any suspicion.

Military and State should have different 'seats', which is a probably a statement that they wanted to make throughout the series.

And also something to do with romance.

I've played it. The amount of strategy and back stabbing that goes on keeps everyone on their toes.

I was pretty damned impressed.

Here's a link. I believe this is the one you're talking about: Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=18&enmi=Battlestar%20Galactica).

I have several Fantasy Flight games. They're fun and easy to get into. Now I have to pick this up. Damn you.

Are there spoilers for the series in the game? Should I play it with someone who has never seen the show but plans on doing so, or will that ruin it for them?

Edit: OMG! The cards have no corners! Win!

It's a pretty fun game, but the odds are really really stacked against the humans. We upped the resources for the human side per the beginner rules and that was the only way the humans could win.

In one game the deck was stacked with cylon attack cards at the top and we had about seven attacks within the first 10-15 rounds. It was ridiculous. No one had picked the chief so we couldn't repair anything. Ended up all our vipers got destroyed and then the cylons wiped out all of the fleet and game was over.

It's definitely an interesting game, but it takes a while to get everyone up and going with it and even then you will blow three to four hours playing one game. Also it's definitely more fun with more than four people.

We played it at work for a bit. It is a whole lot of fun with people being parinoid and calling everyone a toster. We have one player that played as Colonel Ty and started tossing everyone in jail cause he did not trust any of us.
