This is just nuts. (http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=14611&pageNo=1)
Seems like it takes the point out of playing an MMO.

I've been dual boxing a pair of characters for about a week now just to make use of the recruit a friend feature to get all my alts up to 60. I struggle with 2 characters, I have no idea how this guy can handle 36

I like how he says he wants it so he can grief Alliance players in Ironforge and Stormwind.
This guy is the real life version of the loser in the WoW South Park episode.

Insane. Though, I can see the appeal of playing alone. I love MMOs but I kind of hate playing with other people. Go figure.

So jealous! I want a freaking Zhevra. Someone let me recruit them! How effective is the recruit a friend leveling? Do you get decent results or is it not really worth the trouble?

Goddamn that setup must generate some heat.
It seems really nicely put together, but the purpose of it all is pretty pointless to me. Man, what I would do with that money...

Who needs friends when you can spend $5700/yr on subscription fees? I hope he's got the WoW Visa Card (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/visa/) so he can compound the savings!

The woman and I both have Zhevra's. It's pretty cool, and fairly cheap suprisingly. We're both dual-boxing on the same machine. I got 2 60's with 3 days ptime ,and granted enough levels to take another alt to 60. So realistically it's not that bad.
And yeah I say it's worth the trouble if you have about 40-60$ to throw away, as that's what it'll run you total. 20$ for wow(no bc, don't need it unless you want a belf or drenaei on the extra account), 30$ for 2 months worth of game cards for time, and with that you get a month free on your account so as far as cost goes, it's not really that bad.

Theres some program that works between accounts and computers and allows you to synchronize all your characters together. Undoubtedly thats what he's using. Theres no way you could control them otherwise of course.
I've seen the program in action before. Though the most I've seen is 12 characters at once. They stood in two rows of six and cast buffs on themselves all at the exact same time then walked out in perfect formation. Basically there will be one character that is actually being played then all the other toons are just on an elaborate version of "/follow". The main person targets an enemy and clicks a spell or attack and everyone else does the exact same thing.

The program is called Keyclone for what it's worth. I have it, and I just found it easier to control one and just have the other follow and do jack. (leveled a warlock and paladin up) warlock did all the work, paladin tossed a heal here and there if needed, but that's it.

I have to hand it to Blizzard. If they straight up sold Zhevras for $40 a pop, people would riot in the streets. The system they've got in place not only obfuscates their costs, but it makes people feel they're outsmarting Blizzard by buying a second copy of the game and a second subscription for a couple months.

Only issue I see is I know they haven't outsmarted us. We realize what we're paying for, bt as it's something she and I both enjoy and it makes it even quicker to get past those annoying lower levels, I really don't have an issues with it. WoW is our hobby. Some people collect comics, we play WoW. Dunno, I don't see any issue with it personally.

Well, I might willing to pay my 40 bucks and get it over with, as this dual boxing sounds a bit complicated. But then, it wouldn't be cool and everywhere I went, horde and allies alike would be throwing rotten fruit at me. ;_;
Though, honestly, I intend to get my mount by actually recruiting someone, so hopefully it won't cost me anything. If it were one of my siblings or friends, I might be willing to buy their gamecard for them.

Unlike most.
I think that is fucking amazing/note worthy and just all kinds of awesome. I love the idea of a small army of fucking characters.
Gawd that's just awesome.
NEVER second guess the willingness of a fan to spend money.
