Volition announced the official release date for Red Faction: Guerrilla PC today. We mouse and keyboard enthusiasts will get our chance to strike back at our Martian oppressors September 15th (September 11th for those outside of North America).

They were also kind enough to reveal the game's system requirements, which you can find in the full release below:

We know that a lot of our fans have been extremely patient and waiting on the PC version of Red Faction Guerrilla and that an official date hadn't been set in stone. Today that changes, as we've locked down our release dates:

International: September 11th
North America: September 15th

We're still finalizing the digital distribution partners for each region, and once that is all written out, I'll be sure to pass along that information as well. In addition to the release dates, below are the minimum and recommended specifications to run RFG PC:

Minimum:
OS: Windows XP / Vista
CPU: 2.0 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2)
Memory: 1GB RAM / 15GB of Hard Drive space
Video Card: 128MB 3D Video Card with Shader Model 3.0 Support (Nvidia GeForce 7600/ATI Radeon X1300)

Recommended:
OS: Windows Vista for DirectX 10
CPU: 3.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2)
Memory: 2GB RAM / 15GB of Hard Drive space
Video Card: 256MB 3D Video Card with Shader Model 3.0 Support (Nvidia GeForce 8800/ATI Radeon HD3850)

Note: If you're going to play Multiplayer on Games For Windows Live, we highly encourage each individual to be running a "Recommended" spec computer or higher.

Thanks VoodooExtreme (www.ve3d.com) for the scoop.

In other Red Faction news, G4TV has an interesting report (http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/697385/Volition-Reflects-On-Red-Faction-Guerrilla-And-The-Casual-Difficulty-Effect.html) about difficulty levels in everyone's favorite Martian demolitions game. According to reports, more and more players (up to 40%) are opting to play on the easy setting, dubbed Casual in the game's options. Is this game just too hard, or does the Casual name somehow make easy more palatable to players? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yeah... Here's the thing. I bought Saints Row 2 for PC and was promptly sorry I had. (I did buy it for 360 later and loved it.) The recommended requirements were an outright lie. You really need a quad core. Additionally, the game is glitched to Hell and got almost none of the patching the 360 version got.

I no longer trust Volition with their PC ports. (What the fuck happened? Volition used to be a PC dev that you copuld really love. Money talks, of course.) I bought Red Faction on the 360 and I don't think I'll bother with the PC port.

Fair enough. I've heard some of the horror stories about SR2 on the PC, and that seems like a pretty good reason to be wary. Unfortunately, I have no 360 but remain quite interested... Maybe they'll be peaches and put out a demo before release. If not, then I'll probably wait on a review at least; I obviously haven't been in that much of a rush to play.

I'll wait for either a demo or impressions on the PC version and if it stinks I should be able to pick up the 360 on the cheap by then.

3.2Ghz dual core? Really? Sheesh that seems a little high. I'll wait for a demo to see how it runs. I've got a 3.16 so I'm only SLIGHTLY under recommended there but well over it everywhere else.

To be fair, the last patch release made Saints Row 2 more playable. Fun game though!!

And yea, looking forward to this, will buy it on Steam.

I'm definitely interested in this but I think I will wait for a demo. Speaking of which, any word on that? Sept isn't that far away.
